Brakes Randomly Engage

Product: F1 24
Platform:PlayStation 5
Please specify your platform model. Sony PlayStation 5
Summarize your bug Was doing a time trial in Miami - was coming down the straight after turn 16 - and at about 300/350 meters down the straight the brakes kicked in slightly and for about 250 meters brakes % ranged from 2% to 3.5%. Then it jumped to 15% and went up to 18% and just prior to my usual breaking it was at 10% - that covers about 500 meters. The whole time I was full throttle and not touching the brakes. When the brakes hit 15% the drs stopped functioning. I never actually touched the brakes - and I had throttle at 100%. I use Iko Rein's telemetry so I can see this pretty clearly. This has happened at other tracks - China as an example.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
What peripherals are you using? Please list the exact make and model. Logitech G29
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Don't know how it occurs - it seems random
What happens when the bug occurs? The car stops accelerating and slows down a bit - revs drop - lights on steering wheel go out - if using DRS - drs turns off
What do you expect to see? Car operating normally

I originally thought this was just losing revs as seen in some other posts - but using the telemetry software I could see the brakes coming on and staying on and reaching double-digit pressure, even though I was at 100% throttle. Have tested resting foot on pedal in setup and it didn't register anything - pressing down fully on the brake does take it to 100.

This has happened with some frequency but I can go quite a few laps before a recurrence.

This is also recent - the earlier versions of F1 24 didn't seem to have this problem. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which version it started with - but it certainly seems quite recent - so maybe1.5. or 1.6?

  • Correction - looking at the .csv file more closely at the functioning of the DRS - when the brake percentage hit 5% the DRS turned off. According to the spreadsheet DRS was available after that moment even though braking was above 5% - but tried to turn it back on after light went out and couldn't do it. Assume that was because the braking was above 5% and the software won't allow that or once the brakes have been used in a DRS zone you can't reapply DRS, but since I was still in the DRS zone the UDP data was saying it could be available.

Updating this with telemetry data png that I used to describe this. This is from Iko Rein's telemetry software. Note the following I posted in another thread - but this describes the problem in more detail:

I have been having this problem across a variety of tracks in career and in time trial. It looks like it started under version 1.6. I have included a png file of part of a spreadsheet generated from Iko Rein's telemetry software. This is data from the last long straight at Miami. It shows the car at 100% throttle in 7th gear and suddenly the brakes come on slightly - while I am still at 100% throttle. The brake percentage increases to 5% as I shift up to 8th, and the brake percentage falls back under 5%. My speed is at 287kph where it stays despite still being at 100% throttle. I cross the DRS line and engage it - and now the speed slowly begins increase again. As I approach 292 kph the brake percentage jumps to 5% and the DRS disengages. The brake percentage now continues to increase reaching into the teens. Note the far right column says I am still in the DRS zone. The revs start to fall eventually get under 7800 while in 8th (not on the part of the spreadsheet in the png). The other track where I match up with you in having the same experience is China - in the last long straight - but I have also experienced this in the last straight that crosses the finish line.

One other note - currently have been having difficulty with Spa - and have a couple of lap spreadsheets showing the same thing.

Resolving this bug report. The problem ended up being a G29 hardware problem - specifically that a hardware piece called a potentiometer (each of the three pedals - accelerator, brake, and clutch - has one attached to it) had gotten dirty and all three connectors needed cleaning. This resolved the issue.

For the fuller description I posted this in the General Discussion area:

  • With me this happens and it is not related to the hardware. It happens with me if I restart a race.
