If I bought the game on steam and my friend bought it on EA Play is it considered cross-platform
Well, you'd think so but in terms of matchmaking EA is not Steam.
Crossplay always has to be enabled for EA players to join Steam players....I was here when it didn't even work, F1 22 I think. I had actually bought on EA but refunded (luckily I was away and did not play) as 90% of my fellow players were still on Steam.
No, you would both be considered to be on PC in this case.

Ironically I also got F1 22 on EA instead of Steam for some reason, so I remember that, but I was under the impression that was addressed in F1 23?
