Game keeps crashing

Hi,

My PC game (EA App) keeps crashing after I do 1 race & 1 quali session, during the next race. No error code, I just get a grey screen and have to hard shut down my PC. Except now, I cannot even finish a quali session at Imola whilst it is raining before it crashes.

My PC is new, is not overheating & meets minimum requirements (Intel i7, AMD RX 580 8GB, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD). I am playing with graphics on Ultra-Low

I get a message before startup about graphics drivers not up to date, so I updated those and error persisted, even on a new save file.

Any ideas?

  • @PanikinManikin  I would try the following and see if that helps the issue, add an FPS limit and disable ray tracing. Both can be done in the settings menu under Graphics.

RX580 doesn't support RT in hardware, it's GCN, not Navi. So, the game shouldn't detect as such.

    Here is the dxdiag

This is a quite old combo the mainboard is PCI-E 2.0 and it's an Intel board in a Stone PC (basically an education workstation).

How many sticks of RAM for that 16GB? Are they matched?

What is the PSU rating? You're going to need a fairly solid 450-500W (rated) the main 12V rail will need to be 20+A and it will need an 8-pin PCI-E connector to the RX580 card.

I would try DDU if you meet all these criteria. Driver is https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-24.9.1-win10-win11-vega-polaris.exe, think you are running 24.11.1? USB Audio is also something that could cause crashing, try a jack plug headset or mains powered speakers.

Then it's a case of Memtest and or a Netac toolkit for the SSD and check the firmware.

BUT....it's all quite old and near minimum spec. The i7 is as old as the lowest i3 stated and an RX580 is a juiced RX480 which is minimum spec.

  • Try the latest Win 10 update
