Hi Groguet,
I believe that this may be the same issue as is being mentioned in multiple threads, whereby the EAANticheat splash screen is being shown then it is dropping to the launcher.
I have the same behaviour but from steam.
I posted by event logging, report code, and other diagnostics in anothe thread here -
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Bug-Reports/cant-open-F1-24/td-p/13760143 (report ID f8dd91aa-e0df-4b14-b47a-f66d3dbe23b6 for good measure)
and i believe that there are a lot of threads that are actually referring to the same issue - particularly:
1) https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Bug-Reports/EAAntiCheatService-Failed-to-obtain-Origin-directory/m-p/13758847#M2112) https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Bug-Reports/EAAntiCheatService-Failed-to-obtain-Origin-directory/m-p/13759055#M235
3) https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Bug-Reports/Game-doesnt-start/m-p/13758943#M221and the thread we're in right now - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Bug-Reports/Cant-open-F1-24/m-p/13760320#M433
all of the above appear to reference the "EA Anti Cheat" being "unable to find the origin directory" also, and the only one that seems to have been marked as resolved was resolved by reinstalling windows entirely. that shouldn't be needed.
i'll attach my DXDIAG here.
regardless to say, however, any kind of logging which you require, please let me know and i'll grab it for you to help diagnose the issue
additionally in the "how to report a bug" section, it requests the below.- Attach:
- user > documents > my games > F1 24 > hardwaresettings
- right-click the game in Steam > Manage > Browse local files > F1_24.exe.[number].running (please, rename this last file as .txt to be able to upload it)
1) there is no "f124" folder in "documents > my games" as the game as never successfully launched in order to create it.2) there is no file ending in ".running" in the directory requested. there is the main "F1_24.exe", which i can supply if it's helpful.

Hey there,
Can you attach any crashes in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\eaanticheat\Crashdumps ?
To attach them, you can compile them in a zip, and then attach the file to your message.
-Groguet
there's sadly no crash dumps in the folder - the EAAnticheat itself doesn't appear to be crashing as far as i can tell. the appcrash in the event log is specifically referring to the F1_24.exe too.
are there any kinds of crash dumps that i might be able to gather otherwise?
i'm currenly in the process of reinstalling again (i thought i'd give it a try whilst waiting between replies). i'm not certain, but this may have removed previous crash dumps if any were present (however, the folder's last modification timestamp suggests that this isn't the case).
if I continue to have the same issue after finishing the reinstall, I shall return with whatever further information I can get - including those crash dumps if they generate.is there anything additional that i may possibly be able to help gather? (e.g. are there any command line parameters to be provided for verbose logging or anything else?)
i've attached direct exports of the event logging i'm referring to to help
My Crashdumps directory is empty.....Brian
- @EA_Groguet just additionally confirming - after reinstall since my last post, and subsequent attempted failed launches i've still got no crash dumps in that folder.
(please refer to my previous reply relating to the event logs - i don't think eaanticheat itself is necessarily the file crashing, as the crash in the event log is based on F1_24.exe, but the anticheat is showing an error before handing over to the main game exe seemingly. event logs attached to previous reply) - @evil_mercenary after reviewing windows event viewer I can see this message:
The description for Event ID 1 from source Application cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
EAAntiCheatService
Failed to obtain Origin directory
The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table that specific event doesn't make sense to me - all the details are the same on my PC as shown.
the main part is really -
"The following information was included with the event:
EAAntiCheatService
Failed to obtain Origin directory"this shows that the EAAntiCheatService wasn't able to find a directory, or access it - but the application does not actually crash. it seems to gracefully close, or otherwise hand over to F1_24.exe before doing so.
on my PC I *do* have the EA App installed, (as well as the Origin application itself, though it is inactive).
I have tried launching the game as admin, as well as setting each of the EA Anti cheat service executables, and DLLs and services to execute as SYSTEM and as administrator in order to attempt to provide the required filesystem permissions that might have been interfering with their ability to access the required files and directories.unfortunately, this did not help.
I've also tried launching the game (from steam and from the EXE) with, and without, EA App and/or Origin being open. nothing changes the original behaviour described in the event logging in any way sadly.the EAAntiCheat log message seems like the "smoke" - but there's not enough logging to show where the metaphorical "fire" is.
it would be helpful if there were some kind of verbose logging mode for the EAAntiCheat service which we could enable to perhaps provide more information- @evil_mercenary I don't have origin app installed anymore as it is deprecated. I have reinstalled the game, reinstalled AC, gave system ownership to AC files, installed certificates, restarted pc, restarted services, updated pc, updated gpu drivers, updated everything that can possibly be updated. I have cleaned my temp folder, cleared ea app cache, reinstalled ea app and my game still wont work. I am so frustrated and got 4h of sleep.. been analyzing and troubleshooting the game since yesterday from release which was at 5pm until 2am.. went to work at 7 and came back only to sit here and still not being able to play.. I am disappointed in everything EA does bcs support doesnt know what is going on. I have talked to several people and they all told me that they have reported the issue to tech people. I have opened a forum post and not a single EA person responded..
About the windows reinstalling. I found someone with the same problem that me and a windows assistant tell us that ask to live assistance. The windows workers revise my PC and told me that the problem don't have any relationed to windows.
Folder C:\ProgramData\eaanticheat\Crashdumps is empty also here.
- Do we all need to stop trying and just refund the game? I feel like whatever we are saying is being ignored. EA is straight up ignoring us instead of talking to the community. I opened a forum post, talked on multiple, talked to support and this is still not resolved. We really need live support calls like good old days.. not all automated responses and bots.
- @Karlo3110 i would certainly agree that live support, or some kind of realtime troubleshooting would really be my personally preferred approach, should one of the EA representatives be able to reach out and help perform it!
Here is my dxdiag. Im also dont have any crash report
I don't know what the issue is, but I don't think it can be solved by buyers. Hopefully they update the game soon on EA Play. This is as bad as I've seen as far as so many players not being able to launch a new game at all.
- @Crusader765 this seems to be occurring on EA Play *and* steam.
i hope that it is noticed by the fact that this is one of the most active threads on the forum currently - @EA_Groguet Hi there - is there anything further we can check, or any kind of verbose logging we can add?
- @evil_mercenary Yes, but it seems like there was a separate issue with Steam and the anti-cheat that was solved with an update early on. Unfortunately for us with EA Play or Pro, far more people play the game on steam.
Nope. I'm on steam and the problem still occurs. I followed the procedure to delete hardware settings, and verified files (twice)...still I can't launch the game.
Maybe as a work-around, EA should disable the anti-cheat software until they can determine the cause.
This post shows Steam customers are still having the issue.

- @Crusader765 It was not solved on steam. If it was I would be playing now.

@Karlo3110 Really sorry for your experience, we see how many times you have tried without success.
The crashes are not due to EA Anticheat, there is something else preventing the game from starting up.
We want to help. If you can supply a DXdiag that will assist. And if you can tell us if you have any overlays or other software like discord, rgb or game performance software that you typically run with that might assist investigations. - @cdm_slumbdog Is there any way we can all set up a discord call? We could do this so much faster for the whole community. I am willing to give hours of research just to help but it is in fact so much easier if we do a call somewhere
Here is my dxdiag.
