Re: Force feedback not working

Product: F1 24
Platform:Steam-PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug Force Feedback Stops at Low Speeds: The force feedback on the G29 stops working when driving slowly in F1 2024, but then kicks back in at higher speeds, sometimes causing the wheel to * or lock in one direction. If i try my G29 in F1 2023 it works fine, so its not my G29.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
What peripherals are you using? Please list the exact make and model. Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel inklusive Pedals (Playstation Version)
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? Telekom
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? By connecting a G29 wheel that is properly connected to the computer via the GHub app, go into Time Trial mode. When you brake hard, for example, at the first corner in Monza, as you enter the corner (naturally at a slow speed), the force feedback turns off. When you accelerate out of the corner, the force feedback kicks in abruptly and the wheel may * completely to the left or right and stay there.
What happens when the bug occurs? You have to tab out of the game so that the steering wheel can move freely again, but in the end the game is unplayable with the G29. Game braking bug
What do you expect to see? That I can steer normally and that force feedback doesn't go crazy

Have you tried to update everything on G Hub and follow the steps that some players have shared on this thread?

  • @EA_Groguet NOTHING is working for my Fanatec setup. I'm 24 hours away from cancelling my EA Play and not playing F1 24. Have had absolutely ZERO help from EA across Twitter, reddit, and this forum.
  • I play on PS5, as I know, there is no need to update my Logitech Pro Racing wheel.

So do I have to wait for a patch coming the next week?

    Thanks for the support

@ryanoliver21 Fix should be fast i think, they had the problem last year and fixed it. So they know what the bug is and what the fix is, but it’s ea/codemasters so it will most likely take 3 to 4 weeks

@ha6hk3w77mwj that's just it. They didn't fix the problem last year. they just made it so trueforce wouldn't work. that's not a fix in my mind. Specially when they advertise for the wheel to work properly. Its either some FFB with no trueforce and the wheel lights dont work. or whatever this is right now. which wont work. Its literally last years problems again..

@NormBash84 Ok, on ps5 they fixed it and forcefeedback and treuforce both worked on my logitech pro. Xbox had treuforce problems ifbi remember correctly

@ha6hk3w77mwj unfortunately not for me yet. im on Xbox X. Whenever I pause the game. I have to do the whole unplug, and plug back in game. Not to mention the FFB is near zero. I do feel the trueforce working at times. This cant be how it supposed to be. feels way to weak to be correct. No matter what I change the setting to, the feeling is the same. in regards to the FFb and lack of wheel feeling.
  • I'm not sure if EA devs are still looking into this issue, but I figured I'd share my experience in here just in case. I just purchased the game a week ago on Steam, and have 4.5 hours of simply troubleshooting this problem. I own and play iRacing, Project Cars 2, F1 2020, and American Truck Simulator, all of which have no FFB issues.

FFB issue I am seeing is that with a Logitech G29 wheel when braking into a slow/medium speed turn the FFB stops responding. If the road goes right and then left (i.e. Belgium/Spa turns 7 and 8) the wheel will get the FFB for the first turn, but nothing changes for the second turn. Feels like the game thinks I am still turning right even though I'm going left. Suddenly I go back on throttle and exit turn 8, and the FFB kicks back in suddenly and unnaturally. In addition, if I spin out in any turn, the FFB turns off. Car will be at a complete standstill and the wheel will try to pull one way or the other. If I pause the game while in this state, it continues to pull. If I exit the course, it continues to pull.

I tried all troubleshooting steps buried in this megathread, none of which worked. One thing I did find helpful, however, was in the G Hub app I turned on "centering spring in non-force feedback games" and turned the "centering spring strength" up to 50. The FFB in the game does still turn off, but I no longer get the sudden kickback when the game's FFB re-enables after turns. This isn't a solution but it does make the game playable with FFB.

Happy to further clarify or answer any questions community mods or devs have.

Resolved my issue. TL;DR I turned on the Frame Rate Limit in settings > graphics > video mode, and set it to 164 FPS (the refresh rate of my monitor). This was off by default. Hope this helps others out.

Long version, I played the game in VR today for the first time and noticed there was no FFB issue in VR. My comp was displaying the game in a small window at a limited FPS, so the first thing I tried was limiting the FPS in non-VR. I changed the game's refresh rate to 164hz (from auto) and then set the frame rate limit to 164 FPS and that fixed the FFB issue immediately. I changed it back and the FFB issue came back. I ran a benchmark with the frame cap off and the image here is of those results, so that'll have my system specs and frame rate stats. Someone else in this forum had mentioned something about finding their fix by changing their graphics settings, but they weren't clear about which setting and their screenshot wasn't in English.

My guess is that the game prioritizes graphics output over controller input/output when at load, so there is some CPU code getting interrupted/skipped which ideally shouldn't be, but hell if I know.

So we now have finally an update Patch for our issues.

Maybe EA Staff doesn't like it, when we are discussing, so they bring it later in the game. Just curious, if the patch works for my Logitech G Pro Wheel on PlayStation and the FFB issues

I told u it would take over 3 months. And there’s no f1 style wheel. Just this multi purpose wheel. Logitech disappoints me again. What a stupid wheel. Centre peice with stupid bolt on rims. Absolutely disappointed in what took two years for them to release.

  • @IronGhost38Yeah they will look for some more money for multi wheel.
I will have a try anyways.
Just a good question, if I stay with F1 Games.
Will surely change to GT7 or ACC next Season

  • @IronGhost38 I know an inside man who says wait for a month or two and there may be some new additions announced for the Logitech Pro ecosystem

I’m going to do acc. Think new game coming out. And its supposed to be good.

  • ACC comes later for PS5, sadly. Will just throw everything out of the window. Customers don't count anymore in this world

@ha6hk3w77mwj EA Staff loves to watch us complaining and discussing and pretending like there were no issue with FFB on Logitech.
Maybe this will be the last F1, I don't expect a new engine for the game
