2026 season DLC

HiEA_Groguet , from your topic https://forums.ea.com/blog/f1-games-game-info-hub-en/ea-sports-f1%C2%AE-franchise-announcement/12933915

what does exactly mean “new cars, sporting regulations, teams, and drivers” for 2026 DLC?

I mean, I guess the game will keep the current handling etc. but what about the new engine? Is it included in “sporting regulations”? Cause it will have less power IRL, will be in the game too? And what about DRS, will be removed and changed with the new system? So the cars will have different performances?

Especially if yes, are you planning to “add” a new section meaning we may play both F1 25 as it is currently plus DLC 26 like it is now F1 - F2 etc? For example another specific Time Trial section for DLC 26? Or once DLC is installed will overwrite the game features?

Or am I going to the wrong direction meaning the DLC will just include aesthetic changes but keeping exactly the same cars performance (under the hood)?

Thank you in advance, if you can tell us more info at this stage…

  • I'm a bit concerned about this. The 2026 regulations are a big change, right down to the active aero and engine power, and the addition of an 11th team will impact the circuit/pitlane design. There's also a brand new Madrid circuit. That's a lot to cover in some DLC. I know the F2 season gets added as an update, but that's a copy and paste car/physics model, and for some bizarre reason, even that takes 5 months after game launch to get it to us, which is unacceptable really. We should be getting F3 cars by now, and almost 7 years after launching F2, we still don;t get the current season at launch.

Another big question is the price?? This won't be a new game and I'd be very annoyed if it was anything over £20 for an update. If you are going to charge anything over that, I would expect a bunch of classic tracks to be added to justify the price tag and give some value. EA/CM did well with F1 25 to regain some trust with the playerbase after a shambolic F1 24, so this doesn't fill me with much optimism.

We can only hope that the additional time and resources are going into making F1 27 a better game. I just really hope that a "reimagined" game doesn't ruin the franchise and sticks to proper "on-track" authentic F1 racing. Ditch the off-track gimmicks!

All this means is they still wont use a new game engine, the one they have been promising for 4 years. So we wait another year with exactly the same game, exact same physics, exact same UI, literally everything the exact same except the car skins but we pay $70 for it. But hey, we might see some change in 2027 lol. They should be doing a brand new game engine for 2026 and if you want to expand on that then expand on the new game engine. Lets hope they are doing all this because they think they wont have the license in 2027 and we might get a developer who actually cares about the sport.

If I had to guess I would say there won't be a beta as the 2026 content update will most likely be aesthetic only since they'll be moving most of their developmental resources to rebuilding the game for 2027.

  • While my expectations for the 2026 dlc are mild at best, the franchise needs a reset badly, so the news that their rebuilding the game for 27 is pretty exciting IMO. Just disappointed they didn't start this process last year (making 25 a DLC for 24) so we could have a rebuilt game for the start of the new irl regulations in 26.

  • With the announcement that there wont be a f1 26 game, im wondering, will there be some kind of beta for the 2026 content update? Im aware that it will be just a patch, but with new cars, possible different handling, new ers, new engine, no drs/new "low aero" mode, there will be considerable changes that should be considered for some kind of beta test before public release

Another year of Ego Engine, bugs from 2022 and updates worked very well everytime. This will be a disaster.

  • We won't have F1 26; it will be an expansion of F1 25. A new game only in 2027.
