One of the suggestions I put forward some time ago was a new “testing mode”, where players could freely choose all parameters, including tyre wear.
At the moment, when I'm working on a setup in GP Mode, I usually do a dozen in-and-out laps from the pits and then save the game, so I can test setup changes with the tyres already starting at around 30% wear. Clearly just a workaround…
