Career mode qualy/race pace AI issue - question

I’m assuming others are changing the ai level between qualy and race to get around the ai pace difference? I’m wondering what sort of difference between to 2 people are running eg I’m running 99 in qualy and 106 race but think I need to up the race pace more. Must admit I’m getting a bit tired of it, thinking of going back to 25 where I did 3 seasons with one aim level and really enjoyed it.
