I've actually had quite a lot of AI errors in my career races so far (Just finished Miami). They quite often lose the rear on exit and I've seen wheel bumping between them. I've not had much where the outright drive off the track though if that's what you mean.
There have been retirements as well but I've had just a single red flag, no virtual or full safety cars even though I have it on increased.
