“How do I get better as a controller player?”

“Hi, I’m a controller player and I’m always the last one by a big margin, usually 5–7 seconds behind the leader. No matter which setup I use in ranked 5‑lap races — balanced or maximum top speed — I can’t keep up at all. I’d really appreciate some explanation. The game is a lot of fun, I just need to get better. I’m playing on PS5. Kind regards, audiaufner.”

  • The default setups are not ideal. It is worth experimenting with different setups. It also depends on what assists you are using as well

    Hello AudiAufner

As a controller player myself, I was gold division in ranked on Xbox. There are a few assist settings that I use that can help you to be more competitive.

    • Steering Assist: Off
    • Braking Assist: Off
    • Anti lock: On
    • Traction control: Depends what you prefer, if you are somebody who want the casual approach and don't have to worry on the amount of throttle in the corner, leave the option on Full.
I personally have it on Semi assisted. If you remove this assist, you will have a hard time on a controller.
    • Racing lines: Keep them On even if you think you know the circuit perfectly.
    • Gearbox, it's up to you. I have it on automatic because I want to focus on the driving and don't have to worry about what gear I need to be in a specific corner. Also, it will prevent wheel spin (RPMM flying through the roof).
    • ERS and DRS assist: Off
    • Pit assist: On

Now regarding setups, I'm definitely not an expert in this area. I copy other people setups.😅

Good luck if you are planning to compete.
