Yes, David Greco himself confirmed it well before the game came out. Once you get on track the game assigns you a preset. The AI is using it as its setup. So for example if you load Bahrain and the games gives you preset 4 this is what the AI is running. If you go at Imola and the game gives you preset 3 this is what the AI is running too at imola.It was meant to simplify the setup process for those who don't like messing up with setups and to put the AI and the user in the same condition. So basically if you want to match the AI, this year you can.It was something I and other users personally asked multiple times during last years' betas. Cause using custom setups always creates differences with the AI in terms of straight line speed and tyre wear. This year we can finally match them if we want. It's a gamechanger for many of us.So knowing what the AI is running is helpful to balance it too. Cause basically we have a reference to understand where it's too fast or too slow when talking about sraight line speed and track to track differences and so on...

I agree with you, I find that the AI is tougher this year. I put my regular AI level in and was getting smoked. I dropped it to something reasonable, however the AI on straights still doesn't make sense, in that in an equal car and default setup, I still lose out on straights to my AI teammate. Custom setups have made it a bit easier to keep up, but it's still unequal.

@ALittleTiger7 You misunderstood. They are not moaning. At all. It’s observations they are just passing on. They never moan.. Jarno and Marcel in particular just suck it up. Unlike some other second rate YouTubers

Hi @Nylink,
Are you using any form of TC be it on full or medium? Any form of TC will bog you coming out of a corner on to the straightaways. I think the AI is programmed to run with TC set to off but I could be wrong.

It's normal for you to not be able to match your previous AI level.
You are new to the game. The AI is already up to speed from day one. You'll need some getting used to the new handling and such.
The AI get a bit better every year. Codemasters does this intentionally, because the overall playerbase is getting faster over the years too.
So, it's more than understandable that you have to set back AI a bit at the start of a new game. Doesn't change anything about the straight line speed problem though, that's another matter.

I have been using these set ups too. on my team his setups worked for me last year. So far starting my team as a back marker the car never gets to 200 mph.
thanks for the heads up, i’ll have a look at james setups as i’ve used them in the previous games too.
