I think this would be a bad idea. The system is already too inconsistent as it is. Tightening it even more would be more of a disaster IMO. Maybe there needs to be a setting between what we have now as relaxed and what we have as strict; but to make relaxed more strict would make the game unplayable for some I bet. In particular those playing without a wheel. I suspect that's the main reason here. I think relaxed is too strict at times to be honest; I know I've never been able to fully cut a corner and gain a second advantage playing with that setting. I seem to get penalized for cutting a corner even if I get pushed off, and slow down as to not gain an advantage before coming back on track safely.
Bottom line to me is the system is a mess as it is. There's corners even on the relaxed setting that you can't drive like they do IRL simply because the game will penalize you; and there's others where maybe it's not strict enough. I just think they've tried to make relaxed a bit more forgiving on some corners keeping in mind that not everyone is going to play with a wheel and because the game itself can't recognize whether you went wide as you were forced off; or that you slowed & didn't gain a time advantage etc. etc. The real life human factors that come into play with a stewards decision just can't happen in a game so it's a bit more forgiving IMO; but to me strict goes too far as well; but so does relaxed at times.
At this point I'd rather just just not mess with it because it's already pretty inconsistent; I personally don't think it needs to be relaxed more, or tightened up more either.
