At least we have Supercars and F1 Life - God bless EA and Codemasters
Hello,
I thank I have May fixed the issue. I made sure to disable SteamVR Home through the Quest 2, while the SteamVR app was opened, I started the F1 2022 game in VR mode. I was able to finish two practice events, a qualifying lap, and a complete race with no issue at all.
Many games often crash on the VR headset if the SteamVR App is not already running beforehand.
I listed my specs in an earlier post and will post here if need be.If this fixes for everyone then I would definitely put this out. Thank you for your quick response into looking at a possible fix and I hope this helps.
- Pierrerino864 years agoSeasoned Traveler@XecutiveAces Okay ill have a lock. But how to disable steamvr home through the quest? If i do this, steamvr close. And then open steamvr via Mouse on Desktop, steamvr Homepage starts in the quest.
- @XecutiveAces I have try it but no difference to before. Same issues already.

@XecutiveAces tried it. The jittering effect is still there. I think we can do better with different settings. However, we are dependent on the help of the developers who simply have to program this game better. In the previews it was said that you can play VR with a 2070 without any problems. I don't think so. The game is so resource consuming. It just has to be done better. It's just no comparison to Assetto Corsa, AMS or iracing - in the negative and that's just not good.

@Silvercrow1983 I think your GPU is just too weak for the current state of the game. Maybe you try to move the supersampling to the 0 range. Maybe you have enough FPS that way

@EA_Atic added a Dxdiag to this reply.
- @Pierrerino86 I think not. I have a 2070 super and for example Automobilista 2 runs with 90 fps very smooth. Also 90Fps and all smooth in Half Life Alyx.
- Pierrerino864 years agoSeasoned Traveler@Silvercrow1983 yes i know. But again. This game is so demanding on your PC resources. I have a 3080 ti - any other vr game i play with Max settings. In F1 22 no way.

one thing helped me. In the NVIDIA 3D settings I have the setting "prerendered VR frames" (or something like that) set to 2 or 3 instead of 1. That improved it for me.
- @Pierrerino86 I think the problem is not my Hardware, it`s a Problem with the game or Oculus quest 2 itself.. A lot of People they have better HArdware than you and me, have the same problems with jittering. I have try it again and my FPS are fine now. No Idea why the FPS are not good earlier.
- Pierrerino864 years agoSeasoned Traveler@Silvercrow1983 Of course its a Problem with the game. It has to be done better- way better. Reminds me of the Cyberpunk Launch 🙂
@Pierrerino86I hope they bring fast a patch that solve the most Problems, including the VR-issues. And i hope we dont wait several
weeks or months on it.
@Pierrerino86My apologies for the photo not being in English, but you have to open SteamVR through the Quest 2, it will load up your SteamVR Home, then click the 3 Bar Settings Button on the left hand controller, then click the cog at the bottom right, Select Menu on the far left, then the very last option is how to disable SteamVR Home. Finally, restart SteamVR.
You will still have SteamVR open on your Quest 2. Click the 3 Bar Settings button on the right controller, select the monitor that the game is easily accessible to, then open the game through the headset and select start in VR mode.
I’ve read this does not fix a jittery problem. I didn’t have frame rate issues. I had crashing issues.
I believe it’s crashing because SteamVR or the game is not processing properly through the PC, which heats up the Quest 2, and makes the game crash.
I felt the Quest 2 before I did this and it was hot. I felt the Quest 2 after, and it was warm.
I hope they fix it.- Pierrerino864 years agoSeasoned Traveler@XecutiveAces Thanks mate.
- @XecutiveAces I have try this just now. Same issue with jittering.
But the jittering is only in the headset. In recordings or preview on screen from the game it isn`t visible. I dont understand this. Every thing I try to fix, nothing helps for me. - Chinook4 years agoRising Rookie@Silvercrow1983 It must be the way the game drawa the VR image that is making it wierd in the headset. If I use VD, the hud is smooth, but if I disable sliced encoding, it forces the whole image to be drawn completely before a picture update, and major delay is introduced. The interesting part is that there is no judder or desync between any element of the picture. Just a major unbearable delay. Still interesting to see how it eliminates the wonky visuals though.
@Silvercrow1983When I get home, I will get on my NVidia Control Panel and tell you what I have my settings at for VR. I do have a 3080Ti, so it may be different or slightly different. I have no clue in that regard.
However, I have done research and it seems that the Quest 2 has an audio bug?**
Try this out and let us know!
"Inside the Oculus App, change the audio settings to -
-Quest 2 Mic
-Quest 2 Headphones
-Enabled "Hear VR Audio from Computer"
-Enabled "Hear Computer Audio in VR"
-Inside windows desktop audio settings - change default device to Realtek Digital Output.
-After you set all these settings, POWER OFF the Oculus and the PC APP and restart.
-INSIDE STEAMVR - Change audio settings to manual and change the audio outputs until it stops stuttering - IT WILL STOP STUTTERING IMMEDIATELY WHEN YOU FIND THE RIGHT SETTINGS." - A post from Reddit.Edit - **They may have fixed the audio bug but I am not certain. I am just trying to help and, if it were me, I would be trying everything. Hahaha.
- @XecutiveAces I dont have problems with audio.
- @Silvercrow1983 The audio bug, that I read, causes the jittering.
- @XecutiveAces Ah OK i understand. I try it what you write.
Just switched it out to a 3090 with the same result.
Crashing.
- @Jimmy20066666 Did you try my method? I posted earlier that is a work around so it won’t crash. If that doesn’t work, then I can try to help later when I’m off of work. 🙂
I played it with no audio set at all and don't even use the audio the built in audio.
I never have the Audio enabled on the Quest anyway
