Its is because of a European suspension...as soon as the suspension has been served, they return to fitness. In squad hub, the suspended icon is the cause of it, as soon as it goes away, the player returns to normal
Happened to me but all fine now.
It's not just a European suspension, it's any suspension. It's just a domestic suspension is done with quickly. I had a player get suspended in last UCL group game, fitness was messed up until Feb, but as soon as suspension was served, fitness returned.
I suspect that the game actually gives a sharpness boost to a suspended player, but in turn fitness can't go up at the same time sharpness does. It's one or the other.

What a silly bug that is. Have you raised it in the Bug Reports? What can I do if the player was suspended from UCL on the match of relegation on R16? Is there any other solution rather than subbing him from March until the end of the season (and frustrating him)?
My Player doesn’t recover fitness but ik happened at the start of the season do you know a fix?

Have you been managing the fitness/sharpness settings in the game?

My centerback who 's captain got suspended at the final of the group stage game, and he was not recovering.
I thought it was a permanent bug and might have sold him at the winter transfer market.
