Clubs Cpu Not Updating per division

I started a new clubs team and my teams cpu hasn't updated when we go up a division and are all still 80 rated. We are coming up against 84/86 rated cpu teams and always at a disadvantage.A fix would be greatly appreciated.

Divisions don't directly impact Ai level anymore.
You need to gain "fans" to improve your ai which will take a few months to get them to a level that they aren't just human shaped static cones in my experience.
You gain a few fans for wins but nowhere near the amount you need to level up.
You gain the most from promotions and playoff positions.

Our club picked up the game a couple months after launch and we are just now getting the 10 million needed for 86 ai.

It's going take a ton of games for you to level the ai up, with the majority of those games against teams with slightly better or significantly better ai.

It's likely to be months of frustration if your experience is anything like ours, losing tons of games through no fault of our own.

  • Gooner B, thanks for your replies in general, always well written and knowledgeable.

I totally agree the new ai level up system is bad. We know the old system and it was better. At the end of the day few people keep one team going for several months. I don't know what plan was from EA . Were they wanting to stop people going for record clubs and making new clubs constantly when they took one defeat?

Was this causing there to be too many clubs on the server? If so, I'd suggest to ea that:

Don't make club "records" such a big deal to begin with.

Pro Clubs is differnet because you need several people to play. This means you often have to get randoms in at the last second because it's actually hard to pre plan 3+ people you know and trust to play fifa on any given evening. The changes to Pro Clubs have seriously affected the "pick up and play"-ability  of the game mode. This works ok for single player modes where all you have to get organised is your self. Pro Clubs isn't conducive to this.

I'd also suggest EA just improve their servers. They are a huge profitable company after all and their servers run like diarrhea.

Also, it just takes too long to get "fans" (I also don't like this 'social media-ification ' of the game mode. Fans- especially fickle online fans who dip in and out- don't matter as much as victories.)

The play offs aren't regular enoguh and you don't get enough fans from them.

The way they are Win or don't count is also bad. What if you fight back from 4-0 down to 4-4? Is this not worthy of something? Ib football contexts a draw is often a good result. You can win cup finals after just drawing the match! If you win the penalties!

I've gone roughly 50-5   wins losses into div 1 and my bots were still 80, just went 82 as we got to elite playoffs. It just made for an extraordinarily frustrating experience as our bots were godawful and our opponents were tending towards having 84 and 86 rated bots. Even using ANY or full 11 isn't really a solution as ANY means you still control 80 rated dogs and full 11 is difficult to manage, difficult to get chemistry going, people keep dipping in and out, etc.

I feel this bots situation is like the levelling up in fifa 22: just badly thoguht out. It took WAY too long to get to max level in 22 (about 350-500 games iirc). I feel next year they'll sort this bot levelling up situation.

This is just one thing that's bad about Pro Clubs this year. There's honesty countless other problems with it.

    @Cheerspal179

People not constantly creating clubs is about the only upside I can see to this new system. How that is supposed to translate to a positive for the end user I can't get my head around.

We'd often have a side club to help get newer players up to speed with our club & tactics/style, and building a second club really isn't an option anymore because of this either.

I suppose the flip side of that is that almost every game you play feels practically meaningless anyway so introducing new players at whatever level really makes no difference - it's a painful slog with just poor ai regardless.

About 10 days ago I wrote "we are just about on the cusp of getting 86 ai".. well, we are still just on the cusp of it, and haven't broken the 10m threshold yet. We've played nearly 75 games since I posted, in the exact same loop, over and over like groundhog day.

    - 3 points for promo matches
    - 4 straight wins required for promo from 4 matches

Inevitably, during one of those 4 promo matches we either:

    - fight hard for a draw
    - face meta park the bus tactics playing someone who just needs a point
    - face teams abusing crossing/giants/'insert other boring meta here
    - face teams with significantly better ai, who probably also abuse game mechanincs

.. and then round the loop we go again.

Unlike a lot of clubs, we play slow, possession based football. We don't abuse any mechanics, we don't call for the ball, we play our positions and not try to cover the entire pitch by sprinting everywhere.

We try to play realistic football.

With the new system this is extreamly difficult, borderline impossible with ai coded the way they are.

At least with the old system, there was an extreamly high chance you'd be playing against people with the same level ai, and when playing essentially 2v2, 3v3 etc, the ai level is extreamly important. These games felt more even, and that the majority of the time, the better team would have at least the potential to win.
With the new system, we have to hope we don't face better/outmatched ai, hopefully don't come up against people who just want to abuse crossing mechanics/OP long shots/’insert other boring meta here', or any of the other game breaking anti football ways of playing.
We also have to hope that if we do concede to some goal from comically bad coding, that we then totally outscore them as draws just don't exist.

It's the most repetitive, unsatisfying, mind numbing clubs gameplay experience we've ever been served.

BAP drop ins/Lobbies with real players at 85ovr, and no leagues at all was less repetitive, and that was a whole year of playing meaningless games over an over - yet somehow were more enjoyable and less repetitive than this loop we've been given this year.

On the flip side, it's extreamly boring and somewhat pointless when we have the better ai and play teams with 80/82. The difference in AIs ability between levels is so vast the difference is obvious. We'll often go 3-0 up in those games in the first half, the other team quits - we hope it counts - and then on we go.

A total waste of time for us & our opponents.

As I mentioned before, we picked up the game late.
Been playing now in this same loop over and over for months, and already we are at the point that it's a struggle to want to boot the game.
We are club veterans. We've played them all & would often put in thousands of games a year. If we get to 1000 games played this year I would be shocked. We just hit 500 and are already looking at other games to play for the rest of the year.
Not exactly value for money, and that's with us paying less than half price.
I fully expect us to do the same for next year's game - likely waiting even longer for a bigger discount as if that game is anything like this one there will not be any point in playing it for more than a couple of hours a week.

As with almost all the "updates & improvements" to pro clubs, it's been extremely poorly thought out.
Almost like 1 person suggested it and it got green lit for implementation without anyone stopping to think "but what impact could this have".
Instead it feels more akin to some child saying to his school friends "I've got an idea!" and them all being so excited that nobody actually thinks what it might mean.

Masks and the other stupid cosmetic items probably had a similar meeting structure, and that idea has been taken so far that the game visually looks like a complete joke now most of the time.
"We don't want to spoil immersion" one EA Dev said to me.

Well guess what, you did, you are and with every release, the game gets further and further away from being something this community wants to play - let alone buy.

I don't want to derail the thread, it's just really tough not to as there are just so many frustrating things with this game mode now.

I say it every year, but I'm not sure how many more years I can financially support this endeavor.
I've purchase this franchise purely for clubs for 15 years now. It's going backwards, the world 'potential' can only be used for so long, and EA have been dining out on that world for years now.

It's becoming clearer and clearer the mode is dead, development in any meaningful way stopped a long time ago, and EA really have no interest in listening to the user base to improve things, as our feedback and requests have been ignored for well over a decade... A decade!!

    Anyhow, rant over.

To summarize - while the new format could work if implemented properly, it hasn't been and doesnt. I highly doubt anything meaningful will happen to this mechanic for the next release - it'll either be the exact same or completely removed - I'm guessing it'll be the exact same.

If EA don't really step up next year with clubs, I'll be hanging up my boots. They've had my money every year for 30 years, and even paying $20 for the game on sale 60 days after release doesn't even feel like value for money any longer.

I'm literally an addict for these games. It's taken a Herculean effort from them to make me not really want to play, but when the fun stops, stop.

If EA wanted to, they could've really made this mode something, but I think 15 years is long enough to test the waters, and if they don't have a clue after this amount of time, it's clear they absolutely never will.

  • @GoonerB I totally agree. I remember drop in be a pro on fifa 11. It was just random unranked friendlies and you used real teams. I distinctly remember being Darren Fletcher and scoring both goals from CM in a 2-1 win over Man City, it was about 7 or 8 a side. I also remember a hat trick as Gerrard to beat Napoli 3-2.

Anecdotal, yes but that's two random matches played well over a decade ago I Still remember fondly. Just to show that unranked gameplay can still be fun and memorable - IF implemented properly.

This has been implemented dreadfully badly (perhaps deliberately? To shuffle you away to the hellscape that is FUT?)

The meaningless Groundhog Day games are the worst. I feel each game has no jeopardy, or if it does, its hard to verbalise.

Also: win 5 of 5 matches? At what competition anywhere in the world in football is this a thing? The ONLY team to win the Champions League winning every game en route is Bayern Munich 2012/13. (Since 1992 rebrand at least).

Even in a straight knock out competition, hardly any team wins every game. 2 legged ties are often a draw in the away leg (or even a loss) only to be turned around in the home leg. With away goals, 0-0 at home and 1-1 away puts you through. Even without away goals, 0-0 followed by 0-0 and a win on penalties is a win.

The concept of winning 5 matches out of 5 is basicslly alien to football.

Even one legged KO tournaments like the FA Cup the games go to replays after a draw quite often, or are won on penalties.

The concept of winning 5 out of 5 games isn't a thing in football. In football a draw against good opponents is basically usually a good result.

The whole concept of this new 24 Clubs league system is taken from American sports. No relegation, play offs, and no draws or draws not counting towards your play off results. This is a U.S. System foisted on to a European sport and it DOES NOT WORK.

Of course this is a by product of the game being made , inexplicably, in North America (Canada) and ultimately being based on a ice Hockey game engine. That's why FIFA for its first 2 decades played like a tank simulator. With fifa 09 they tried to emulate the more fluid PES system and had it right for a while then with fifa 12 and the introduced tactical defneding it all went down hill.

Fifa Post fifa 12 has gone increasingly more into being a theatre of street circus tricks and not actual team football. I went off fifa after 14 for a while and got back with 22 and suddenly every player is Maradona on steroids and suddenly defending is like controlling a tranquillised sloth.

There are some good new mechanics - the power shot is great and shoulve been introduced years ago, that said they nerfed it in 24 and I've only scored 4 or 5 (long range) powers this year after scoring a belter more or less every night on 23.

I'm getting off topic a bit here but meh.

To your point of people making new clubs constantly ; in my experience everyone I play with still does this. I think I know 1 or 2 teams of players who stay on one clubs since the game came out and probably have 86 or 88 bots by now (but then i don't know - 50 million is a LOT of fans)

About 95% of players i know just make a new club basically every time they're on, get up to div 4 or 3, take a loss or get bored then switch off. They just deal witb the 80 rated bots and most of the time In lower divs you're up against 80 too so it's even.

Of course the seasons re set so elite div teams come back down to 5 after each play off seasons (this is a dumb idea, btw) so you can come across sweats in low divs but - honestly ? - hardly ANYBODY even has 88 rated bots, its so hard to get. You'd have to have literally been grinding pro clubs since October to have 88 bots by now and in that case who has that patience when the gameplay is so poor? And the playerbase so toxic? And the game so full of bugs? Half the time a couple of your team mates don't even get loaded in to the match!! And half the matches don't load up period and everyone has to reset!

Btw, its a real mission getting 5+ people in a party (some of whom you've probably just met) to synchronise and all reset their console, or reset a glitched lobby that's failing to search.

Imagine taking a loss in your 5th of 5 Playoff matches because you were in a large party and 1 guy didn't listen, hear or understand he had to reset his Xbox as two guys didn't get in? Imagine he kicked off and you took the L and had to win 5 of 5 again, for that.??

On top of all THAT, for a few weeks recently Pro Clubs was glitched and wasn't registering ANY results at all! Imagine you'd struggled to get your best players online, then did and went on a good run for a change, only for it all not to count?

During that time the game was glitching for everyone I was in a party saying "guys. The game didn't count" and nobody believed me so played another game. (This was the first night of the glitching so we didn't know everyone had it) after the 2nd game didn't count either I said "guys, this is bugged, rheyre not counting" and they all still didn't believe me (were they not even bothered to check? Did they just want to argue the toss? Or would it not even have ultimately made a difference anyway because no games matter on 24 pro clubs to begin with??)
They wanted to play again so I just said "You know what - I'm done. I'm hopping on 23 where each game has something to play for and ill actually have fun".

I've been going back to 23 a lot recently as 24 is just garbage, and each time we hop on 23 we -

    Play meaningful games
    Score great goals
Get at least one goal memorable enough to screen record a clip of it each session
If we start from 10 progress up and feel our bots progress with us as the Skill slope increases in what feels like an organic manner
Have the option of going for a Cup run

Its just so much better in every way (and 23 was full of the usual fifa problems anyway)

Then there's the menu glitch shilling Pop Art or Retro 90s Durags or some other volta thing i literally couldn't care less about popping up every time I navigate navigate and out the clubs menu. INFURIATING!! Pop Art popping up!

Then there's the game play. As always dribbling is over powered as we know the team sport of football is actually a circus exhibition of one player dribbling round an entire team. Passing is disgusting this year - disgusting. Full power X lobs are going to the guy next to you. Fr some reason, as wlasys in fifa, simple A passes in the opponents box go slower and are easier to intercept with a higher fail rate. Sweaty square passes across goal for tap ins are for some reason wildly hard to get right. There's a dozen different angles where sometimesyou need an A pass, sometimes a double tap A, sometimes a Y, sometimes a LB+Y, sometimes an x, sometimes a double X.... the list goes on. And the only way to know which is the right input in the situation is to play hundreds of games . EA: Sort it out. Squaring a ball across the box for a tap in is something 99% of pro footballers get right every time.

Crossing is yet again over powered and often impossible to defend against.

Who'd even want to stick around long enoguh to get their bots uo to 88?
I bet at 88 they're still shocking anyway - last CB keeping the enemy onside, GK flapping at shots straight at him, defenders not engaging- RB press has been nerfed - just standing watching people run in straight lines past them, right backs cutting on to their weaker left foot to cross (??????) And also, taking the throw ins weirdly, sometimes faking throwing it at you, which draws enemies to you, only to throw it at you (defeating the point of the fake throw) , throwing it quickly when yoi don't want it, taking ages when you want it quickly, throwing backwards when you're free in an attacking area.....

    The list goes on.

@Cheerspal179 I'd also add that they got rid of RB "driven" passes, and replaced it with this "Precision" pass thing that literally nobody uses.

A projection line shows where the pass is going (easy for the defence or what?) And the RB pass now goes SLOWER than a normal pass so it's just 200% easy to cut out. The "Precision Pass" playstyle doesn't make a difference either. Tried it and jt was utterly useless, complete waste of time.

Some play styles are useless (lob pass, Precision pass, ) nd some are ridiculously OP (Finesse Shot). It's just pointless really

Getting 88 bots is like getting to level 25 (which was max) on fifa 22 - it'll basically take all year. Wheres the point in that? You need to be msx level to get the full enjoyment out the game.

Another thing similar Is the "5 star club rating" thing which let's you get better stadium. (Like old Trafford or bernabeu) this took ages on fifa 22/23 to the point the only clubs with "5 star rating" has played like 600 games (often 300 W 300 L) which is a 50% Loss record whcih isn't actually a good record, but the system is designed around time spent playing and not really how good your results are.

Why not just make all staidums available from the start - or, make them available once you're div 1 or elite div ? Why lock them behind 500 games?

And speaking of 500 games - that's a fair amount of game time. Because Pro Clubs games are LONG. They're too long. They're 8 minute per half, which means a game is 16 minutes. Give 30 seconds half time break, 30 seconds to 1 minute loading in, 30 seconds at the end for highlights, and in game breaks like goals and fouls, and a pro clubs match lasts 20 minutes.

That's not even counting failed load ins or having to dashboard cos someone didn't get in.

And that's not even counting sometimes not finding a match for upwards of 5 minutes.

All the while your club record (although that's not such a big thing this fifa) will tank because the longer you stay in a club the more Entropy increases and losses set in, especially if you're playing in high divisions.

The whole thing needs re structured.

    1. Go back to the fifa 23 league system. Make the cups constantly open, all of them all the time and allow friendlies to have cup rules ie no rules or mystery ball. Also, see if you can come up with more cup rules games. How about philosophers football with different shaped nets, such as small triangular nets, or a net that's half way up a wall and needs a specific type of finesse shot to score into? The Game becomes about trying to pull off that specific shot, or stopping opponents from pulling it off.

Or 5 a side or 7 a side? On smaller pitches? Like volta but not as bad (seriously what's with volta? Why are players so unresponsive on volta? I feel a good 2 second delay to pass and shot inputs on volta. I feel like the idea of volta is you're meant to pass badly or not at all, and the idea is you're meant to maybe lose the ball from shots and passes and the entire idea is to dribble around people. As someone who got into fifa before it became Dribbling Simulator i just don't truck with that mentality.)

    There's other scenarios.

And to ensure you're not just searching for games for Ages how about a Queue system where you can see other clubs who are waiting to play a certain game mode? So there's a mystery ball queue, a no rules queue, etc. Join the queue and play a league game and once you're both finished it'll highlight saying "play Cup match now?"

I'd also make it so that anyone yoi play in the cup, you play in any round of the cup, not just whoever in your round, to ensure yoi have match making. So currently you only play who's in the final if you're in the final. I'd just make the cup the cup and broaden the search similar to league where you play people 2 dovisions +/- your league.

In fact League matchmaking is so broken that for a game to REMAIN in div 3 once we matched against East Coasters in fifa 23 who were div 1 and ranked 8th in the world.

    2. Bring back the 10 division league system. Maybe introduce a "Champions League / Europa League" style system where to qualify you have to win div 1 or div 2 or whatever and then you enter into a two-legged knock out system where you play other league champions, home and away, 4 rounds then a one legged Final at a neutral venue. Champions of that can keep re entering and it'd be a way to make clubs who are bored of winning div 1 have a new challenge. There'd be leader boards and all kinds of detailed info on the best teams and hoe you and your friends teams compare.

    3. Re introduce relegation. Drop the play off system. Drop the Win 5 of 5 American style nonsense. Get rid of Volta as nobody plays it anyway and make all the customisation form volta just available in clubs , and increase the level of customization.

Id come up with more but can't be bothered right now.

@Cheerspal179 Oh yeah I meant to add,

    4. Re introduce Be A Pro friendlies with up to 11 v 11 of real teams. So, playing as Modric for real madrid for example.

And while I'm at that - make the real teams ratings better. What's the opposite of "power creep"? I've noticed "weakening" creep happening to real players in fifa. I used to be a Seasons player, but I've noticed that the real teams ratings are really bad - everyone is 82 for some reason and they're mostly slow with awful stats. This is because the real players can't be better than fake FUT cards as the game now revolves around "Team of the Season" haaland and not real haaland, or classic players like Zidane or Pele

Speaking of which, and I've asked for this for ages, introduce a Classics mode whcih is just all classic line ups. So Holland 1974, hunGary 1954, inter milan 1965, Liverpool 1981, ac milan 1989, Spain 2010, France 98, Italy 1938, etc. You can just play these teams against each other. Whi was better? Barcelona 2009 or AC Milan 1989? Well let's just simulate em on fifa!
You can sort of do that with fut but it's too tricky and time consuming , you wouldn't get the full line ups never mind the kits, and fut is just horrendous anyway to begin with

That's not pro clubs related but id still like to see it in.

@Cheerspal179 Another thing I'd like to see is a "Palmarès" section on players Pro profiles , or in English "Honours List" of what they've won. So

    DIV 1 TITLE WINNER x3
    EA CUP WINNER x4
    NO RULES CUP WINNER x1

And then what season and what club that was with so like
FC PROCLUBS Season 8 EA Cup WINNER

And if EA could program that in and not be a horrendous glitchy mess that'd be grand 👍
Else I'm just guns get UFL 🤷‍♂️
