CAREER MODE
What a huge disappointment this years game has been.
Yet again, dispite ea trying to convince the community otherwise, they have only focused on the money grabbing game mode that is ultimate team.
i last bought fifa 4 or 5 years ago as i was fed up with the lack of realism. The game could not be classed as a simulation.
this year they conned me into thinking they had revamped it and I could enjoy career mode. How foolish was I.
the game mode is all smoke and mirrors. I could go on and on ranting about this but just a few points to highlight the stupidity of this mode.
1. when setting your vision to tiki taka you cannot ask you players to play a possession based game. Have they never watched Barca of old, Man City of today???? They literally dominate the ball by keeping hold of the ball and waiting for the right moment, the genius that is pep is synonymous with tiki taka. How can you actually try and tell me that the two are not compatible.
2. No matter what settings you select your midfielders do not track back. I have gone through the tedious task of getting all my midfielders to have a high defensive work rate, high tackling and interceptions etc yet they still do not track back. When I watch the likes of Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden play in real life they double up with the full back and get in their shape and press from there. Yet when playing ea fc 24 the gaps are absolutely huge! I thought playing the tactical view as the manager would be fun and I could coach the ai to play the way I want but no. A complete waste of time and a hugely frustrating experience.
3. There is not a way of asking your ai to play out from the back. I have a team of small technical players. No matter what my instructions the ai boot it long, lose the duel and are on the back foot again right away. When I think of any modern side that plays out from the back they do it at all costs. They would get subbed off if they played hopeless long balls. The manager would insist they are brave on they ball and play out from the back and accept that against a good pressing side they may concede goals this way but by enlarge they will score more goals as if they beat the press they will have a lot of space to attack. I can’t tell you how annoying it is watching the ai play a lower league team who they should be able to play off the park but instead just boot it long and make them look like the better side.
It seems there is no point trying to be a manger on this game as it still is completely reliant on me actually playing. This is not a manger simulation game. What a complete disappointment this has been from ea yet again.
