custom tactics fc24

Appears to be a general problem but no matter what setting I have for custom tactics makes no difference. Even if I set Ultra defence, drop back, depth 10 my defence still don't pack the box like it does for other players, they stay on the halfway line. Appreciate need to move players back but impossible when settings don't help.  Other defences rush out and tackle immediately. It makes no difference for any setting, am I missing something? My players just don't press. I'm not the best player in the world but not helped by lack of adjustability
