Discussion about RNG in the game
NOTE FOR MODS: I'm not trying to say the game is scripted, please read the entire post to understand my point.
While it's crucial to clarify that scripting or DDA (Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment) is NOT in the game, the concept of randomness through the game's RNG mechanism is a significant factor contributing to the feeling of being out of control during gameplay.
RNG is obvious when examining specific in-game scenarios, such as tackling and finishing. Take tackling, for instance. The higher-rated defender theoretically has a better chance of successfully winning the ball against a lower-rated attacker. However, the application of RNG introduces an element of uncertainty, making it possible for outcomes to deviate from what one might expect based solely on player ratings. This inherent unpredictability adds to the sense of chaos which may often be referred to as “scripting”.
Similarly, in the context of finishing, the game employs RNG to prevent predictability. Every shot is not created equal, and this randomness is introduced to diversify the outcomes of various shot attempts.
The introduction of Play Styles has brought a new dimension to the discussion. These styles, while adding depth and diversity to gameplay, also interact with RNG in nuanced ways. The use of Play Styles and RNG can sometimes amplify the perception of the game feeling out of control. You may experience instances where the influence of RNG seems more pronounced, leading to moments that are challenging to anticipate or counteract.
One significant concern is that in a game like EA FC, where individual skill plays a fundamental role, overreliance on randomness in for example finishing, tackling or passing can undermine the competitive integrity of the game. This will greatly affect the effectiveness of your decision-making and execution if a significant portion of the outcome is determined by factors beyond your control.
