Anyone still on the forums from the old 4-3-3(5) threads and planning on playing this year? I quit fifa 23 in November last year lol, but back to do Chelsea P&P RTG and England P&P RTG and will be u...
Glad to see a 433 thread back up! Used to love the non meta thread on the fifa forum
I'm running 433(5) and having variable success. Finding it hard to create patterns of play in the middle of the park. Feel like the only way I get success is to play out through my wide men
Did some SB-grinding yesterday and got Modric & Frenkie.
Naturally built a new team around them.
Kept my favorite winger in Pedro, as he was better than Kvara for me.
Had the option of using Alaba/Rudiger along side Darmian, but chose to keep my CBs for now. I think the jockey-playstyle really suits my defending and defending is the hardest part of the game.
Rolfö/Guijarro was two cards I've been looking at since I bought the game.
IG I set up like this with the custom tactics and instructions I posted a couple of days ago.
One of Pedro and Mostovoi will drop deep when in possession, allowing me to out-man a lot of formations in midfield.
RM/LM makes clever runs on the outside, especially with the hug the toucline-setting activated, they'll have a lot of goals assists and are often available out wide.
The 3 CBs will keep the 2 strikers in check and the wide CBs job is to keep the ball carrier outside of the box until the RM/LM comes back.
Modric and Patri will just help me control the game, both are able to do it all, and although I ask them to stay back when attacking, they are my best option when I want to rotate the ball from one flank to the other flank to open up space.
I'm gonna try to start with Lewa/Woj, I might swap them for Maignan/Griezmann later, but so far I've preferred to have a naturally strong striker, that can win aerials and offers something different to my two CFs, and my squad has enough pace elsewhere.
Issues so far with the tactic, is the issue that'll always be there for 3atb, as they have to come over to defend the wide spaces, there will always be a bit of room on the opposite flanks.
Other issue is that if I play to fast, the rest of the team struggles to keep up and everything is a bit messy. (Team looks like a 4-4-2 off the ball, with Rolfö coming in to play LB and Mostovoi dropping into the LM-position, so 4-4-2-shenanigans is possible, but team isn't really built for fast transitional football..)
Edit:
I'm aware that my luck is used up for a while with the Modric/Frenkie pulls.
The problem I eventually ran into with the 4-3-3(5) was that the FBs needed to step up to invert which suited the 4-4-2-meta poorly, as people willingly just try to run it down the wing and turn back and forth until they find the space. Tried different variations, where one FB was overlapping and the other stayed put, with one of the CMs restricting and the winger on that side having free roam, but going full 3 atb, gives me the exact structure I want vs. 2 strikers, so will use that as a starting formation going forward.
@HeiVetle do you think that team I posted before your last post, could work on 3421? I didn't used a 3atb formation this year, and yours always works good for me
Having two outside CBs protect Milazzo might be good.
Rolfö and Baltimore are both good options for the wide positions. (will be a bit messy after selecting the custom tactic as Rolfö has to move far, but it's better with a right footed RM and a left footed LM)
The midfield duo is a bit more difficult, Horan isn't very good at defending, but struggles with poor agility/balance as well. If you're comfortable with her not being able to turn fast I'd switch around her and Banini.
