FC24 not sure how it wants to play

Too many balls rebound off my goalkeeper to an attacker, because he couldn't catch a cold. It seems to be potluck where the ball falls a lot of the time. Last night I played a match and the opponent was just pinging the ball all over the place.

Switching is terrible. I have it set to on loose balls and air balls and most of the time I'm having to manually switch because it doesn't switch to the person nearest the ball

Matchmaking in online seasons is absolute crap. I played three games last night against the same team, not the same opponent. All three games were totally different. The first one I was scoring goals for fun. Because of that first game I thought I was better at this than I actually am and the second game I got absolutely hammered, then the third game it could have gone either way. I lost the third game, but it was more enjoyable than the previous two games. I think the matchmaking needs to be based on the players skill level. I would rather play a close game than win too comfortably or get beat too comfortably.

Controller connectivity is terrible at times, sometimes unable to pause or make substitutions and sometimes I am watching the AI play against my opponent, because the controller hasn't connected for whatever reason. The controller works fine on other games, including FIFA 23, so this isn't because my controller is broken or anything.

Commentators concede a goal in the first couple of minutes and they say "They haven't been at their best today, it'll take a lot to get back into this". Also they'll say "a good clean challenge" when you tackle a player, next minute my player is shown a yellow card and concedes a free kick. Obviously it wasn't a good clean challenge then.

Referees - Penalties are given too easily. Half the time I don't even know why I've conceded the penalty or why I was given one. Offisides is potluck. I've seen some blatant offsides that weren't flagged and also seen some that were onside that weren't. Bookings seem to be potluck too. I can just take the ball off a player by nudging him and concede a free kick and booking and then I have seen my opponent doing a hard sliding tackle with my player doing a somersault nearly breaking his neck and it's a "good clean challenge".
