PLAYER CAREER: Contracts and Contract Years
The new contract feature in player career is cool, but it needs a few more tweaks to really be great. In past games all you could do is request a transfer and hope a team you wanted to play for put a bid in for you. Now you just play one season at a time and try to reach your objectives and can either resign or find a new team. The issue is theres a bug where even leaving one *optional* wage objective unfinished means your team won't offer you a new contract, so you're forced to move.
The solution: Contract Years. Play the first season out as a contract year where you need to finish your objectives to earn a contract at your club. And then if you complete those objectives, have the option to sign a contract from 1-5 years (maybe based on how many objectives you completed). During those seasons where you're firmly in your contract, you could try for wage objectives to increase your pay for the next year but you will stay at the club. When you're on your last year of your contract, the contract objectives pop up again and you must complete them to resign with your team if you chose to, or you could decide at the start of the season you want to make a move to another club and spend the year finishing up their contract objectives.
What if you want to move from your club and you're in the middle of your contract? Simple, put in a transfer request like in the prior games and hope that teams that you want to play for put in a bid, the code for that I'm sure is already written. Or better yet, you can tell your agent maybe 2/3 clubs that you want to play for and then some small time objectives will pop up to "impress the buying club" set to be completed for the next transfer window (so if u put the request in in october, completing these requests by January 31st will trigger an offer from the club). If you don't complete them in time (say you put the request in at the start of january and didnt have much time to do it), then the same objectives can just be reset to be completed for the next transfer deadline. All of this should come with the option to also withdraw transfer requests and continue with your original wage objectives (or contract objectives if in a contract year) for your club.
Idk thought of this cuz i finished all my contract objectives at arsenal and then was forced to move to madrid (poor me) after 2 years even tho i still wanted to play for arsenal. kind of kills the point of a player career if you cant stay at your favourite club.
