R1 Sprint Boost

Cannot get this to work - I start the initial dribble holding R1 then release it before immediately pressing/holding the R2 button to go into the ‘controlled sprint’ but it doesn’t want to work for me. I see my online opponents & the AI even in Squad Battles using a Bronze/Silver player conducting this move with no problems. What am I doing wrong 😂 Also, is the pass button actually X because I press it & it goes nowhere near my actual player (I know lots of users have a similar issue!)
