Ultimate team (new player)

So, this is my first time playing against other players in Ultimate team. In lounge matches I would encounter players with crappy teams but in the match those players would play like with 99 stats.
I wouldn't be able to pass the ball forward, my players wouldn't be able to keep the ball at their feet for more than a second, every time opponents defender would come forward and intercept the passes, all time perfect tackles, 100% man marking, and my forwards if by miracle would be able to reach their goal, would simply miss easiest shots every time.
On the other hand my defenders wouldn't be even able to keep up with the opponents players, they couldn't even simply reach them and tackle. Opponent would beat 5-6 of my defenders without even doing any skill moves with a single player and my defenders couldn't even tackle or block them. (For eg: opponents forward with 70 pace running miles away from my defender who has 82+ pace, my defender couldn't even catch up with him)
If I am lucky two out of ten matches I would find a opponent who seems human, others are like perfect in everything. Is this normal in Ultimate team?
Am I the only one who is bad and everyone is better than me?

I am not new to FIFA (now EA FC) series, but I am a casual player who have never bothered with the Ultimate team game mode much before aside from playing one or two squad battles once in a while.
