I can read some confusion here, and I want to clarify it.
You can find both versions of Icons in packs, so as an example, you may find either Zico Base or Future Stars' version.
This will happen again with new campaigns involving special Heroes/Icons Items.

That was clarified by EA at the start of the game cycle whereby they said that if a card had two special items available at the same time both would be packable. So, I would say your totw hansen was the correct content. The issue for most people on this thread is that they never had communicated that both versions of icons could be available at the same time until highlighted by a community manager above.
That is really poor of EA to leave base icons in packs while the card also has a promo item. Needs to be looked at going forward as this adversely effects pack weight. I've had this happen to me this week and it is super disappointing and ultimately harms game engagement and user experience. Cheers
as I can see, this looks like a robbery. You must keep the event cards only when you release a new team of icons. The base cards must be deleted until the event finishes. That’s how it must be.
dude we're all pissed off and feel CHEATED out of our content. especially the ones like me that were stupid enough to give ea $$$$ for store packs only to receive a base version of an icon that is in a current promo.
so you are saying that ea's content team has purposely left base versions in packs with the promo versions at the same time??? what in god's name makes you think that that is acceptable in any way, especially from the future stars store packs that do not have probabilities for base icons in the listed probabilities but do have the probabilities for the promo versions? not to mention it has NEVER been that way in the past. if there was a promo version of a player out, the base version was not in packs.
this was not made clear ab icons in the pack descriptions. i'm pissed off and unsatisfied with the product that i paid for. this isn't the same as just getting a crappy pack with nothing good in it. it's ea, so that happens all the time. this is different. i bought a pack for a chance at packing a promo icon and got a base version while under the impression that the base versions wouldn't be in packs to muddy the odds. and it isn't just me that was under that impression. i've seen all the threads and posts on reddit and EAanswerhq of others reporting the same as well so appearently this has never been communicated well enough nor represented in writing in pack probabilities in the store.
