Checking account status - can’t play online games

EAFC has generally been working well for me but today when I try to play an online draft of ultimate team, or try to get into pro clubs and seasons game modes from main menu, it comes up as ‘checking account status’ and then takes me back to the previous menu.

I have game pass ultimate and it is valid and checked my Xbox online settings and all seem to be working on that front. 

The issue means I can’t play at all. Are there any solutions to this?
