EA FC Ultimate - connection issue with 11 year old account - but not adult's?

I purchased EA FC Ultimate for my 11 year old son for Christmas to play on his Playstation 5.

We've played quite a few 1 vs 1 games but now he wants to play Ultimate team, career modes and online friendlies but it does not allow it.

Msg comes up stating:

"You have lost your online connection. Please check your home network...."

But the network is solid and super fast (fibre broadband - hard wired ethernet)

When I'm logged in to the EAFC games an Adult it allows me to access the EAFC Ultimate Team - so I;m guessing that there is an age restriction. But i can't see anything about the EA FC Ultimate being rated higher than the standard edition (rated 3).

I have looked online and can't find any answers. If there is a age restriction, then is there a way that I can override it as I have done with his Fortnite settings. He's allowed to play it online with Friends or Friends of Friends but, of course not random old men.

I did try to set up a teenage account in a different user name as a test. We still can't use the Ultimate Team setting - but it notifies me that this is due to Parental Settings. Rather than the server connection. Which is strange that one has patental restrictions but the other one has connection issues.

Any suggestions?

It's frustrating if there is something stopping my son using the special edition of EAFC as it was his 1st choice Christmas gift. I could have saved £50 by buying the standard game if these Ultimate Features are not usable for a 11 year old.

I'm not a huge gamer, this is my first console since a Playstation 2 (!) but fairly computer literate.
