EAAntiCheat service pegging memory until it crashes the PC

Starting yesterday I noticed my EAFC was freezing during matches, and I would simply crash at some point.
Upon researching the EAAnticheat which is usually not a heavy process ramps up to 9-25% CPU usage upon running the game, and it uses all of the memory available (in my case I have 32GB).

This has never happened before, I did not update my windows, epic or EA app yesterday, My norton av does not have any game related configurations and has been with me for years.
I have uninistalled the Anticheat, reinstalled fresh, deleted the registry entires, resinstalled fresh, dowloaded from the Anticheat page, reinstalled ir fresh, removed the EA app, FC 24, and Epic Games and reinstalled all fresh, made sure that my secure boot configs are correct, and repaired my windowns.

After hours doing that the behavior is the same.
Since then AC updates silently (I cannot see it), I assume you just had an update that is causing this.
Attached is a screenshot with AC still runing even though the game is already closed.

  • I've been facing the same issue for the past two days. I've been trying to play Division Rivals, but I just can't seem to get it to work. Initially, I thought the problem was with my PC. However, I was able to play Overwatch 2 on Ultra settings with over 100 fps without any issues, so it wasn't a hardware problem.
Then, I suspected that the game itself might be the issue. I even went as far as reinstalling it from Steam, but the problem persisted. Frustrated, I decided to monitor my PC's performance using Task Manager on my second monitor while running the game. I started a 5-minute kickoff game, and within the first minute, I noticed my antivirus suddenly spiking from using 1GB of RAM to 20GB, as indicated in the screenshot I took
As soon as it hit 20GB, my PC froze, and I had to force a reset from the tower. I'm hoping that by sharing my experience, others who are encountering the same problem can chime in, and maybe together, we can bring attention to this issue so that EA can address it.

You experience is the same as mine.
I contacted support multiple times with no solution, and just to prevent people from wasting time, this is all that I did since the issue started

    Reinstalled anticheat
Removed anticheat, reinstalled a brand new version downloaded from the page
    reinstalled fc24
    reinstalled ea app
reinstalled epic games (where I run the game from)
Changed the priority of the process with powershell as manual does not work
deleted all reg entries, fresh installed all of the above
    reinstalled windows
Re-installed all my video card drivers
    Removed my norton antivirues
    Reinstalled norton AV
add eafc and anticheat to the exception list from both the firewall and antivirus
    Reinstalled windows
Changed the secure boot option in my bios
    deleted cache
Reduced all configurations in FC24 to low
    Removed Nvdia experience
    Removed Nvidia Broadcast
Clean up my registry from bad entries
Changed the disk where EA FC 24 is running from
If you are facing the same thing as me, you can try all those actions, but none have worked for me.
I cannot play Rivals, Champions,  or Draft
I can play squad battles because I can pause when the game freezes, and resume it when performance seems better

  • Any update on this? I first experienced this happening to me yesterday. Played absolutely fine with no issues on friday. The anticheat uses over 10gb of RAM and will just close my app mid game.

  • None, EA simply ignores it.
I saw they same type of post in the BF forums, they never respond as they do not know what to do.
They said EAAnticheat would be better than easy for example, but that is far from the truth.

We will not see this resolved even in Fc25. this is how EA operates

Some sort of a workaround I am using.
The memory is taken by the Anticheat but not actually used, so I have downloaded a memory cleaner, set it up to run every time my free memory is lower than 60% (I have 32 gb) and it "manages"the issue to some extent.
You will still get a random freeze here and there, but not as before
