So I didn’t preorder it, but I did order it from my account instead of my son’s on the PSN. I contacted SONY customer service and perhaps unsurprisingly received no help. Asked if the points could be transferred to his account and was told their terms of service prevented this. Even tried to get a refund so I could purchase from my son’s account and they told me because I had downloaded the game it was not eligible for a refund! I also contacted EA customer support and was told they don’t transfer items either and to contact Sony for a refund. So I gave up, and ended up purchasing 4600 points (~$50) on my son’s account as add-ons. Not happy about having to spend the extra money, nor the hassle with two different companies’ customer service departments, but at least it resolved the issue. Perhaps your mileage will be better, but if not, you could take the same route.
Good Luck,
Brian

Thanks Brian for your answer!
I'm not surprised but that is really bad from EA's side! What a disappointment...
Thanks,
Bjorn
