L1 doesn't register when clicking it on PC using controller

I literally can't play the game as when I press the L1 button on my controller it doesn't register in EA Fc 24 at all whether this be in the menus or in game, so I can't play and need a fix. However, I know the button works as I have tested it using a gameplay button controller tester.
