I don’t think ea is to blame for this although the balance is off. People just like offense being easier. It’s almost always nerf defense buff offense. People don’t want to break down the defense. This is why you always see people want ping pong passing and pace to be easier. So many threads wanting 99 pace offensive players to just blow by defenders like they aren’t even there.
They should nerf ping pong passing make offense manual. They should also nerf pace and make defense track better. I just don’t think the communty is behind it so doubt it will change.
- samjohpos2 years agoRising Scout@RadioShaqs Yeah the balance is just so off.
I feel like everyone and their uncles are trying to be a pro.
I like playing with different players and different formations, but I always have to stick with the same players in order to achieve the meta.
Playstyles skewed the game a little, I like them alot but the base features seem to be more broken as a result. Intercept+ and Anticipate+ are prime examples, pair that with bruiser+ and you have a defensive weapon.
There are specific meta players and playstyles that just seem to break the game.
Have you guys tried Finesse+ and Flair combo for Finesse shots? The finesse shots seem a bit faster in response time. Sancho and Martinez TOTS.
Same as whipped pass, pinged pass and long ball.
The diverse ways to play are there but the meta is always the meta. And it feels like the optionality for playing is less in this edition. (Direct Passing meta is a prime example, same custom tactics)- 2 years ago@samjohpos Couldn't agree more about playstyles being broken. A few examples that i've experienced this year that tell me playstyles aren't quite working the way I think they should;
Long pass+ - I have Luka Modric and Cancelo in my team. Cancelo has 86 long passing but long pass+. Modric has the normal long ball playstyle but 99 long passing. Cancelo's long passing is significantly better than Modrics, with half of the long balls you try to play with Modric struggling to reach the opponent
Finesse/Finesse+ - I don't think I need to go into too much detail on that one because we all know what happens with finesse shots, but I find it bizarre that a player can have 99 finishing, 99 shot power, 99 long shots etc.. but still if they don't have the playstyle its near impossible to score a finesse
Quick step/Rapid - Good additions but WAY too overpowered. At times it's like watching a Mario-Kart style powerup the way people go from 0-60 in 0.1 second
Defensive playstyles - Similar to what i've posted above, if a player has 99 defensive stats they should really be strong in-game, but if they're missing any of the defensive playstyles it automatically puts them at a disadvantage
First touch / Press proven - Again, a player with 99 dribbling shouldn't struggle to control a ball just because they don't have that playstyle
Relentless - Really good addition to get people back to full stamina after half time etc.. but feels like because that playstyle exists, it ruins anyone that doesn't have it. Great example again would be Modric... 99 stamina (And I don't auto press) but he's normally exhausted by 80 minutes and barely recovers. Kind of defeats the point of having 99 stamina- RadioShaqs2 years agoHero
I think they could still sell packs in the old fifas. The problem was more player retention.
In the old days you only got a few thousand coins for winning d1. You didn’t have all these rewards and sbcs. Now as nice as those are that’s what changed the player base.
Don’t get me wrong people were sweaty in the old days and gameplay was worse but you played for fun not rewards.
Now people play for rewards and grind sbcs it’s backwards.
I think when people ask for more rewards better packs more promos they don’t know what they are asking for. Then again the population has grown since those were all added and people play the game longer so in turn that probably sells more packs as more people stay and play.
But when you have all those rewards promos and sbcs people are going to find the meta and never stop using it.

@RadioShaqs everything you've said here is spot on.
I've not hidden the fact that I think the overpowered defensive AI is what's ruined the game this year (And I'm sure you're all bored of me repeating it... my bad!) but it's genuinely insane how it's easier to make a tackle by putting your controller down and not pressing anything, than it is being 1cm away from the opponent and pressing to make a tackle
I think the blame is 50/50 between EA and the playing community. I blame EA for creating a game that allows custom tactics and automation to be so badly abused, but I also blame the community for being so hyper-competitive & being so desperate for wins/rewards that they'll actively choose to get the AI to do 90% of the work for them and abuse absolutely every bug they can to try and sneak that win.
I know you mentioned about promo recently on another thread, I think a revamp of promos might actually help people find more fun from the gameplay, but it will hit their pockets because it will sell less store packs. It feels like this game has bred a load of gambling addicts that care more about the rush of opening that pack and getting a good card, than they do about having fun whilst actually playing the game. And when I say that I don't mean it as an insult, because I know myself that I get FOMO when it comes to rewards so I complete every objective to give myself the best possible chance of packing something big. But then I open those packs, 99% of them are awful, and I just think "Well.... that was a waste of time" and then repeat the same cycle again.
Maybe if there wasn't such importance placed on your rank in rivals or champs then people would relax a little and play the game for fun, rather than it being a desperate grind?
