Fix the gameplay

Over the last few days i've come to realise that a lot of the problems we've all spoken about with regards to responsiveness and inconsistent gameplay... are most likely down to servers and wifi. I've upgraded my wifi this week from 300mb to 550mb and whilst my ping is still the same (Generally anywhere between 14-22) , the gameplay feels SO much more responsive and faster. This was during gameplay today so it remains to be seen whether it all falls apart when the servers are busier but even with a minor increase to my wifi speed, the gameplay improvement has been significant.

I still do think there's major flaws with the way the game has been built though, with the biggest being AI defending pressing/interceptions. Custom tactics have become way too open to abuse to the point where the AI is doing the majority of the work for certain players. I still stand by my previous points that in any online video game, user input should be the most important factor in deciding who wins and loses, and in this game there's far too many examples where user input isn't the overriding factor in the end result

That’s the problem with connections it’s such a personal thing we all don’t experience the same connection. It’s why doing all the tests matter. It’s the only way to judge and show your issues. 

The gameplay since the half day of maintenance has been frankly disgraceful. 500mbps internet speed running the series x through a Ethernet cable and my whole team is stuck in the mud. This is the ONLY game I have these issues on, any other game it perfect. Totally unacceptable from EA, the game is totally unplayable right now… in good gameplay I can smash people in division 1 with ease, when it’s as bad as it is at the moment I can barely string passes together never mind scrape a win. Game is totally flawed and has been for what seems like an eternity now. Shocking company, money grabbing weasels 

Just played a game of draft went 5-1 opponent paused and then I got disconnected and a dnf how has ea not fixed this sh?t yet?

Looks like they fixed most of the sa server issues.  Is fut down now?  I’ve not tried in the last couple days. Or do you mean just in general?  I know you made a post in the technical section and here for uk players to post their reports how many posted in it?  I know sa had over 1000 specific posts and with reports I’ve not seen anything like that. Have more posted examples in this thread besides you?  I don’t have Facebook so only seen stuff here. 

Ea broke down your gameplay on each video and explained it. But yeah it would help if people had a consensus. I’ve actually seen more fix their gameplay than not lately. I’ve also seen more say there is no ea sever issues. That’s coming from people who dislike ea and the game. I try to get people to report it but besides sa nobody does. The last person I asked to see a video they just wanted to argue with me and say I was defending ea so to me the evidence just isn’t there. I agree people say it but to actually show any evidence there is very little. 

Leon never broke down every video, just a certain few. I never agreed either with him. On one of the examples he tried to break down The ball bouncing off an 89 rated Elliot is *, saying his control is 63 rated? And that I was pressing sprint at the same time? Pure excuses. I can't even get on UT right now says the servers are down when trying to get in to that game mode. There's a wide spread issue with the game. I don't want to complain to you about it it's not your fault, but no one else responds and nothing gets done. I'll even share my connection report with you...

Like I’ve said I commend you for sharing your videos and trying. I wish more people took your lead. If more people would do like sa and you and there is a problem I think ea would fix it. 

@RadioShaqs you do realise that the last thing most folk probably have going through their mind is to record the clip showing the issue? I'm not having a go, just saying that in the heat of the moment, I dont think recording a clip is the first thing they thing of unfortunately. 

I record mine, but for some reason this site will never allow me to share them, so I've started to stop recording them. I can't even share my connection rate to prove I have flawless connectivity.

I get people don’t want or don’t have time to record but when you say it’s everyone with the same issue it’s millions. Ok I believe you so how many can report it?  200 maybe 300 seems reasonable. I mean sa is probably 800 reports and maybe 200 of the same posters for 1000 posts. Nobody was like I can’t provide evidence look on Facebook or Twitter. I even said there is a clear problem and redirected people to add posts to it so it’s not like I defend ea no matter what. Thankfully it looks like it’s fixed or mostly fixed for them. 

I’ve seen people who have posted for 10 years so you would think they would have to time to report it but nobody does. 

I’ve seen one person in here report it and nobody else and this thread has been going for 2 months I dunno would have to look at the date. 

Ea said in the last post most of the claims are unverified but they would like a video to show the evidence.

So if nobody follows the instructions ea needs and wants not sure what they can do. Blame ea all you want but at least show them what’s going on so they can look into it. 

Don’t think it really matters. Look at the influx of sa there were so many ea had to consolidate them into one thread. I mean I would pick whatever section the issue is like if it’s fut it would make more sense to have it in the fut section. If it’s a bug it would make more sense to put it in the bug section. 

The issue is that even if you were to post a video, the issues are not visible. The issues with this type of gameplay is that the players feel heavy and don't move as intended. A lot of people use the term "delay" to describe it when that is not true as the inputs register in time. The gameplay does feel delayed though through player movement not being as it should so in some regard players are correct to term it delay but not in the literal sense. The issue has been around for years and is clearly a mechanism introduced by the developers as a form of lag compensation so that people with poor internet can play and not be punished for it. As i say if i showed you a clip of a striker bursting past a defender it is easy for someone to say a mistake was made with positioning or was too late with player switching, or it the stats of the players even though in the context of the whole match one team is moving quicker than the opponents If EA wanted to address this they could but they would rather smooth the gameplay out with lag compensation than address the issue which is fair enough from a business point of view.

You can show delay and a problem with the server. If you run the input overlay on and the controllers are not in sync then you have delay. But yeah just they feel heavy it’s not something you can show and might be down to your setup. 

But this is one of the biggest problems is people try to lump all the problems in the same boat. 

Like noway he has real delay and it’s when he plays against Germans. Others can’t pass. Others say it’s pace. So that’s why it’s important to do all the tests and show it in gameplay. As you can show most of the issues people are claiming. 

There is certainly something in the game that causes the issues people talk about. The best way of describing it is that one team is slightly out of sync with the game. This doesn't manifest itself in button delay as such so the input overlay would not show this. In game it results in players not moving as they should. They either move slightly slower, take extra touches or extra animations, or ai players not pressing or being in the positions they normally would. For me i find my players don't accelerate as the stats would suggest. If i had the exact same players as my opponent then this would result in their attacker being able to run past my defender and i can't catch up, yet up the other end their defender would catch my attacker. It is unfair but it's not something the devs will talk about or improve because it's the lag compensation to allow everyone to play against each other. Ideally they should tweak it so that those with poor internets or wifi get punished more but from a business point of view it is clearly more profitable for them to punish the good internets.  

i do think people get frustrated with this gameplay but everyone describes it slightly differently i.e it's delay and then exaggerate it's effect i.e it takes 2 seconds to respond which is clearly impossible to play. It's probably a fraction of a second if at all, but when the players respond slower (i.e they turn slower or don't accelerate as they should) people assume it's delayed when technically it isn't. We all want a fair game but currently players do get punished depending on where the live and their internet which shouldn't be the case. 

Lag compensation is in every online game.  That wouldn’t be causing the problems you are describing. Sounds more like your setup like needing to be in tv mode.  I’ve never experienced that type of gameplay. 

But yeah if your defenders can’t catch up things like that would be clear to see on video. Also things like players taking extra touches. 

I’ve also seen people confuse delay as they hit the button but actually needing for the ball to either arrive to the player or the player needing to catch up to a ball.  This was explained when he provided video though. 

I get it. It’s just a way to deflect and not actually discuss the topic. That’s why it’s important to actually show what’s going on with gameplay and tests. 

Also rather than try to tear you down I would rather prop you up. I actually think most of you guys in here are smart enough to post like no way which is helping the community. There is no need to try to tear others down. Try to be postive and help the community. Provide the tests and show ea what’s wrong so you can help form change. I get it when things are not working it can be frustrating making you take it out on others.
