Point of FUT Champions Evolution?

Hello, Could anyone tell me what the point is of the Ultimate Team Champions Evolution? Is it just for the look of the card? Thanks!

    This is new way to convert your favorite card into Red champs card.

    Is it still possible to upgrade a Evo player after making it to an red card?

      @BiLo1988 once live card turned into Red evo, they are not receiving upgrades.
