Re: Farewell EA: Meta Gameplay Bugs

@RadioShaqs Yeah the balance is just so off.

I feel like everyone and their uncles are trying to be a pro.

I like playing with different players and different formations, but I always have to stick with the same players in order to achieve the meta.

Playstyles skewed the game a little, I like them alot but the base features seem to be more broken as a result. Intercept+ and Anticipate+ are prime examples, pair that with bruiser+ and you have a defensive weapon.

There are specific meta players and playstyles that just seem to break the game.

Have you guys tried Finesse+ and Flair combo for Finesse shots? The finesse shots seem a bit faster in response time. Sancho and Martinez TOTS.

Same as whipped pass, pinged pass and long ball.

The diverse ways to play are there but the meta is always the meta. And it feels like the optionality for playing is less in this edition. (Direct Passing meta is a prime example, same custom tactics)

    @samjohpos Couldn't agree more about playstyles being broken. A few examples that i've experienced this year that tell me playstyles aren't quite working the way I think they should;

Long pass+ - I have Luka Modric and Cancelo in my team. Cancelo has 86 long passing but long pass+. Modric has the normal long ball playstyle but 99 long passing. Cancelo's long passing is significantly better than Modrics, with half of the long balls you try to play with Modric struggling to reach the opponent

Finesse/Finesse+ - I don't think I need to go into too much detail on that one because we all know what happens with finesse shots, but I find it bizarre that a player can have 99 finishing, 99 shot power, 99 long shots etc.. but still if they don't have the playstyle its near impossible to score a finesse

Quick step/Rapid - Good additions but WAY too overpowered. At times it's like watching a Mario-Kart style powerup the way people go from 0-60 in 0.1 second

Defensive playstyles - Similar to what i've posted above, if a player has 99 defensive stats they should really be strong in-game, but if they're missing any of the defensive playstyles it automatically puts them at a disadvantage

First touch / Press proven - Again, a player with 99 dribbling shouldn't struggle to control a ball just because they don't have that playstyle

Relentless - Really good addition to get people back to full stamina after half time etc.. but feels like because that playstyle exists, it ruins anyone that doesn't have it. Great example again would be Modric... 99 stamina (And I don't auto press) but he's normally exhausted by 80 minutes and barely recovers. Kind of defeats the point of having 99 stamina

I think they could still sell packs in the old fifas. The problem was more player retention.

In the old days you only got a few thousand coins for winning d1. You didn’t have all these rewards and sbcs. Now as nice as those are that’s what changed the player base.

Don’t get me wrong people were sweaty in the old days and gameplay was worse but you played for fun not rewards.

Now people play for rewards and grind sbcs it’s backwards.

I think when people ask for more rewards better packs more promos they don’t know what they are asking for. Then again the population has grown since those were all added and people play the game longer so in turn that probably sells more packs as more people stay and play.

But when you have all those rewards promos and sbcs people are going to find the meta and never stop using it.

@RadioShaqs  yeah I agree with pretty much everything you've said. To a degree i'm guilty of it too. I've done every single TOTS cup objective, every daily log in, every daily play to get all of the guaranteed TOTS packs... Knowing full well i'm going to open them and they'll be low rated dupes. But I still grind and do them on the offchance that I get a gamechanging player from them, or the fodder to complete an SBC. Only way i'd say I differ to some is that I don't alter my playstyle to desperately try and abuse my way to wins, i've used pretty much the same custom tactics for the last 3 fifas and I play the way I like football to be played in real life

That's kind of what I mean when I talk about breeding gambling addicts, it feels like the dopamine rush of opening a big pack outweighs the fun of playing the game for a lot of people. Every time I go onto twitter I see some form of "Wow you guys have to try this BROKEN TACTIC, it will guarantee you wins" type post and for me I just look at it and think.... Why? Why would you copy someone else & sacrifice the way you want to play to desperately sneak wins? At the end of the day we all get to the end of Futties and then switch the game off and start all over again, so there's no real-life reward at the end of it all

Really feels like we're at a crossroads now because the things that have turned people into desperate "Win at all costs" chasers are the things that make EA the most money, so they're not going to change them. I've played Fifa since 98 and i've done ultimate team properly for probably 4 or 5 years now but as it stands I think this will be my last one. When I first started playing there was a genuine community feel to it, people would help eachother reach milestones & rewards & would have fun games. The hyper-competitive, complete everything as fast as possible, nature of the community now has turned really toxic. Imagine 2/3 years ago, watching someone pretend to score an own goal to give you a free win but instead just baiting you and kicking it out to quit at a draw? It just wouldn't have happened
