Me and my cousin want to play against each other on ultimate team, we have each other added on xbox and in the fifa friends but when i go to friendlies to invite him he isnt there but when i press RT on the menu hes there.

Does each of you play the same game version on the same platform? Sometimes players install Gen 4 version of the game on their Xbox Series X/s or PS5 consoles and that may be causing similar issues.
Also, if any of you is playing on PC, cross-play will not be available for the PC version of EA SPORTS FC 24 until other cross-play versions of the game receive this Title Update https://twitter.com/EASFCDirect/status/1708792766245769237

Community ManagerNo, these are both the next-gen consoles so you only need to make sure that you both installed the Gen 5 version of the game. If it's a digital download you select it from the store before installation.
You should be able to play Online Friendlies via crossplay in that configuration.
Just in case, check your account's privacy settings.
