Why people dont play rivals !
Because you have top tier players hanging around in low divisions to get easy wins for objectives. Make the higher div rewards worth doing then maybe they wont!

They would still be normal d10 players. If everyone in rivals can’t go back eventually everyone would make it at least to the top few because matchmaking would make it easier. Then when you finally get to elite as a d10 player you would never win again as now you are playing everyone better. Then they might as well not even play friendlies or wl. It would be terrible for them.
Also I dunno if you remember but the community asked ea to make it harder to move up and easier to drop back. The reason being people would get stuck playing to hard of opponents and quit the game.
ea listened and added less checkpoints and easier to drop back with shorter seasons.
But right now for the "average" player rivals is just meaningless get the 7 wins and that's it, try to go up and well gets to week 5 or 6 you know you're going back down again so is just pointless and not due to ability. At least before you would go down due to losses but not now, dont like a game then leave and get 7 wins as you wish. Hate it with a passion but say min to thurs there is nothing else to do on game so its hard to take. Just think my idea is the way forward overall.
You can play squad battles try to qualify for wl or if you just like rivals you can still play it for fun. Honestly to me there is to much to do already. At least they dropped down the 40 games from wl.
Forgot you can also do objective too much to remember lol. To top it off don’t forget all the sbcs and content. It’s overwhelming.
Agree 40 wl games was way too much and all was a bit crazy a few years ago but then lockdown helped get through it. Now it just feels as dead as ever in terms of friendlies and objectives in general. rivals well said my bit on that but no dont say play sb, seriously! Yes play that purley for objectives and well bit of bonus xp. However main game mode should be rivals and its just dull as dishwater and never been a worst time for that/old online seasons. I mean how good would that mode be but no.
Random observations from the last few weeks:
I've noticed that there's an increasing tendency that opponents use AI for defending and only play the game themselves when attacking.
There is an unusually high number of very skilled opponents playing in divisions 5 and 4.The increased weekly rewards are welcome but surely Champs rewards should be increased accordingly - there's hardly anything ever worth getting if you're a player (as me and my son are) who typically get between 6 and 9 wins every weekend.
Maybe get more player rewards for division rivals, but the one you get depends on which division you're in. For instance D10-D8 gets a 86 icon, D7-D5 gets a 88 icon, D4-1 gets a 90 icon and elite a +92 icon. Maybe that would make people want to get into higher divisions. But i doubt EA would do something like that, because god forbid you get good cards by playing.
Icons for free as div rivals rewards is impossible to imagine, EA want as to buy packs to get high quality players. I play div 7 to 5 (I progress during the season) and the rewards that I received for 7 victories are ridiciolous. From settembre i opened rivals packs week after week (did not miss one week of rewards) and in all of those packs - div rivals rewards i had got - NOTHING. Niente di niente. The only players worth sth I got from 5*84 pack, 10*83 and similar packs. Division rivals rewards are laughable. I play rivals for fun. And I know how it sounds - rivals and fun in one sentence. But i don’t give up, i change my team to 4321 - and it’s better. I play 57 depth not 71-72 and I manage to get to champs lately fairly easy (after 7 games - 4 wins) i just keep having faith that the gameplay and fun will return to this game. But if nothing changes i want play fc 25. SO EA it’s all in your hands.
We all say that this game is played by toxic people, so Let’s not be toxic. After i won 4 games i gave away 3 victories for free. I could exit sooner with 0-0 score but i decided to be kind so maybe some other players will join.
- @SirCarbonara today i played Weekend leage qualify and im a div 5 player. im not very good and im not very bad either. 4 first games i met top top teams. then im talking about meta cards and they only abused all the mechanics that could get them easy goals. all game same.
I can honestly say i think the game is bad but i think the majority of the playerbase is even worse. 2 first teams i met was 94 for rated, 94 RATED and im 88 - @jonas2173 I hope you qualified for champs. My team now is really good I have to admit but still there are players that can beat my with much much worse teams. But i Discovery that the better my connection is the better is the gameplay and number of victories goes up.
- @Leelongy73 What you've mentioned about opponents using AI to defend for them is by far and large the biggest problem in this game, i'm amazed people aren't calling it out as much as they were a few months ago. It's al just broken custom tactics and auto defending
- @Cam3131 people are rarly calling out whats need to be said. How about the insane inconsistand gameplay that makes the people actualy use ai to do allmost everything for them at this game.. its so broken. 7-8 years ago you could actualy beat bad players with top tier teams simple by outplaying them in a fotball mather. now its more who have the meta team and are better at abusing glitches and broken tactics in the game. In the earlier days i only played manuel controlls but in this sheizehole of a game you just cant do it anymore
