The Hitchhiker's Guide to Marcus Spencer

Note - I'm sure you are all aware, but just in case this story is purely fictional and is no truth in the back story nor is it based on anyone. This is what I shall call my side quest. My Bristol City Career will be my main career, but my work has me in 2 places a lot of the time so rather than moving console each time I hunted out my old XBOX One and have started a career on this. I guess this is the advantage of digital copies of games.

Also this could end disastrous as I summed a player career to November and retired. I didn't have the options you normally get when creating a manager career so I will have to take note of the objectives in this one etc

  • I would've called him Robin...😉

Good luck to Cheltenham and Marks & Spencer, I mean: Marcus Spencer

  • Haha, good old Marcus Spencer. I did wonder what happened to him 😉

Good idea with two stories, now you're playing on two different consoles. Brings back memories of the good old memory card for Playstation 2, where one could bring it to another console and plug it in to continue the progress in the game and save it on the memory card.

Good luck with this. Cheltenham Town are taking a risk with an unproven manager. At least if one doesn't count all your previous careers using Marcus Spencer as your alias 😉

Good start, 3 wins in 3 games.

Fun to see this written from the manager's point of view. This provides a great opportunity to bring up a number of tactical considerations etc.

Thanks and yeah, thought I'd try it differently and make it more about managers thoughts and maybe less serious. Won't be as many stats followed throughout this one especially as kinda plan this as a Journeyman career. Nothing set in stone will see how it goes

I read the piece above and I must say that I am happy that the game has made scouting and the academy more challenging: it's no longer possible to open a can of scouts and scoop a nice little talent from wherever, it really requires a bit more digging to find the right player. In my career, I am trying this time to gather as many real faces as possible - with that in mind I'm trying to keep Rugani at Ajax (on loan from Juventus) but my financial means just don't allow it whichever way I turn my pennies. So I feel you on the matter of that left back that you're forced to let go.

Yeah it's certainly proving difficult, in reality I could dip into youth scouting and quickly have someone good enough to join, but financially I can't just pick up any old player that's been scouted. I made a mistake and sent out 2 scouts, probably should've held out due to funds. Also was already eliminated from FA Cup and League Cup before joining so not generating much of an extra income for the club. Luckily there isn't many objectives for this season, but I've had to re scout in the general market to find players I can afford to bring in to play my style
