I had this issue myself and have just fixed it in the main menu go to game settings change it from simulation to classic then also when you first click on game settings scroll all the way to the bottom turn analogue sprint on instead of off and it's worked for me
R2 is performing 'controlled sprint' instead of regular sprint. This is the issue.
