Hey sorry I'm late to give a solution to everyone but if you go into the settings in the career lobby, and go to the second tab you should be able to change the mode from "simulation" to "classic" and that'll solve your problem.

Have there been any changes with this big update?
Just edited some custom settings in a career mode and STILL NOT FIXED.
The best solution I can find is starting a new career mode and you can use the simulation settings and it does allow me to sprint, but if i try to change to custom settings sprinting stops working altogether, even if I change back to simulation settings.
this is really poor after 2 major updates
