As the title says it was my understanding that canceling would be like pausing and then being able to start again from where ever you left off. I didn't know the whole evo would just dissappear altog...

I'm sorry, but I don't think there's any going back. In the breakdown for training camp evolutions, it says that you cannot pause, and if you do, it's canceled permanently. All the best to you!
