Game play

Surely most have to like it or otherwise they wouldn’t keep nerfing defense. It’s just to easy to pass everything is about pace and counter attacks as defense can’t keep up. There was balance at the start of the year. Then every patch is buff offense nerf defense.  I could even see if offense was manual. People must just like high scoring games. 

Yep it's has to the most frustrating thing ever when most of online players do it. I myself try crossing try shooting from outside the box. I don't get any enjoyment from just running down the middle and scoring from 5 or 10 yards out

It has already been long established that you only experience perfect gameplay.

In the real world passing is a complete mess, not easy, and attacking, especially in squad battles is a joke because you can’t use your players pace off any other of their abilities because the game stops you doing it. 

The game is a complete mess. And you getting paid by EA to come on here every day and suggest otherwise is another example of the completely unethical way that EA treated its customers. 

Why would ea pay me to say I don’t like the game?  Just because I don’t have connection issues doesn’t mean I like it. I don’t work for ea otherwise I would fix the gameplay so I can enjoy it. 

Don't expect good things from a **bleep** company. The game is bad for a reason. If the game is perfect, EA will find a way to make it worse and worse until it's like the last fifa all over again

Do you like that they keep buffing offense and nerfing defense?  Why would they keep doing it if people don’t like it?  I do think the majority like it that way. Soon as the refresh came out everyone said it saved the game. If not they could have just kept the game the way it was.

I really don’t see the problem with positive criticism. To me it doesn’t make sense to be rude or call people names just because you dislike the path the game is taking.

Then there is no point in having a defense if the aim is to have a high scoring outcome. It feels like rush, just with more out field players, which makes no sense. Long term, it will become less fun, I'm 2 or 3-1 down but the game will allow me to make a comeback, because the defense has been nerfed to be less responsive and the end result will be users spending less time playing this game. It's a recipey for disaster, and lazy solution to the ongoing issues. 

The gameplay you are describing is not the gameplay many people who are having awful experiences are having. Buffed offense and nerfed defense? I played a game yesterday where there were at every attempt to attack, 10 opponents defending in or immediately around the box. My opponent had 115 tackles, 35 of them slide tackles and they recovered from slide tackles quicker than I could get my players to turn and manoeuvre away. Overpowered offense and underpowered defense has not been my experience in any game.

Maybe the issue is that the issues are clearly affecting some groups of people and not others, making it impossible for those not experiencing the problems to know what it's like.

Out of curiosity, I saw comments from you in other threads saying you haven't played for a few months and/or only play a few Rush games here and there. So, what timeframe/title update are you judging online gameplay from if you haven't played for a while since there have been a fair few updates in the past few months.

Before and after the refresh I played all modes did all objectives spent probably to much time playing. Yes the refresh to me ruined the game so I don’t play as much. I get on play a couple rivals test a patch other than that play a few rush games.  I no longer do any sbcs evos objectives or trading. If I am not going to play I am certainly not going to grind the terrible menu game. They need to remove sbcs evos and limit trading. If they brought back bid tokens that would help. The older fifa markets were a compliment to the game not a game in itself. 

Do you have many games end 0-0. I certainly don’t and I am no pro but don’t see their games end 0-0 either. To me they are all high scoring. Maybe you have games that end 0-0. 

Do you not think pace is the most important stat?  Are you using anyone under 70 pace? 80 pace?  An attacker under 90?  I don’t see anyone using slow players. 

Are you using manual offense?  Before the patch it was actually helping people win games. After the patch you are better off using non manual offense. 

When you defend do you find you are giving up pace counter attacks?  The only way to stop it is hold some defenders back. Most use 4231 because of the pace counter attacks. Also it’s that easy to score with only 4 attackers against 6 defenders. 

Do you see anyone using an attacking formation like 3 atb besides maybe to come from behind?  If defense is easier than offense why don’t you see 3 or even 2 being left behind to take on 4 or more attacker?  If you don’t have more defenders than attackers you will lose.  To me that doesn’t look like defense is more powerful.

Maybe you don’t experience that and maybe you like the patches and eas paths. I don’t but I am not going to insult you if you do. I would rather have a reasonable discussion.

It seems there might be a miscommunication happening here, because your response reads as though you are responding to claims I have never made, and then arguing against those. 

It can feel frustrating for a person to be peppered with arguments, claims, and counterclaims against things they've never said, which may be why you are finding people do not have reasonable discussions. 

I think it is important for people to understand the perspective of the players who are having a similar experience to me and maybe this forum thread will be helpful for others in the future, so I am happy to discuss.

I think this is the main area of miscommunication happening. 

Other people might like it when defense is lower and offensive play is easier, but I don't know because that isn't what I was talking about, so it does not apply to me. I didn't say I like the patch or anything similar. My point is there is a difference between what people are experiencing. Some of us are not getting worse defense and easier attacking with updates, we are getting an increasingly broken and laggy gaming experience. So that group of gamers, myself included, don't experience improved attacking play. Attacking play for me is difficult. Defense is also difficult. The midfield, too, is difficult. Because everything is laggy, poorly animated and has issues. This was my main point. 

To answer some of your questions:

1. "Do you have many games end 0-0. " - Yes, or 1-1. It's very much two extremes - if the gameplay is on the slightly better side (e.g. I play at 5 a.m.) then my games are close, low scoring games (which, arguably, they should be, if I am in the correct division for my ability). However, when the gameplay issues are bad (peak hours, usually, when I never play now), then I would leave a game after going 3-0 down, because when the gameplay is bad, I would end up conceding 10 or more goals. But I don't ever play anywhere around peak times unless it's to test if an update has improved the game. 
2. Do you not think pace is the most important stat?  Are you using anyone under 70 pace? 80 pace?  An attacker under 90? -For my main Evo team right now, yes I have a fair few lower paced players including midfielders under 70 pace and attackers under 80. I have won games with that team multiple times when I play early morning. So, I don't think pace is the most important stat, but it can definitely be an important one depending on people's gameplay style and their gameplay experience.
3. Are you using manual offense? Yes. I didn't know until quite recently that the supposed "meta" was running around with your CDM and getting your AI to defend. If I did that, my AI defenders would just stand still and watch people run past them. I control my defence and have the Advanced Defending option on rather than Tactical, so I have control over the types of tackles I do. 
4. When you defend do you find you are giving up pace counter attacks? Sometimes, depends on the game and gameplay.  I am okay at slowing down breakaway counters with manually switching between the one or two defenders who stay back and "sheparding" the attacker towards less threatening areas (like the wings) which gives me more time. But sometimes, yes, I concede on counter attacks which I would expect.
5. Do you see anyone using an attacking formation like 3 atb besides maybe to come from behind?  If defense is easier than offense why don’t you see 3 or even 2 being left behind to take on 4 or more attacker? Again, I did not claim defence is easier than offense, my point was that for the gameplay problems I and some others experience, neither are easy and both are awful. 
   
   

Some of the other things you said are just differences in opinion. I love Evos, for example, they are the only reason I still play. I love building up my custom teams and if Evos were not in the game, I wouldn't have a reason to keep playing. But that's just preference. Everyone has different preferences like that.

Hopefully that offers more context to the angle that I am coming from with the gameplay problems some of us are experiencing.
