Feedback for EA Regarding Gameplay Consistency in Ultimate Team

Feedback for EA Regarding Gameplay Consistency in Ultimate Team

I would like to provide feedback based on long-term experience with Ultimate Team across multiple titles. This is not meant as complaining — it is an attempt to highlight a core gameplay issue that significantly affects the competitive integrity of the mode.

Gameplay Inconsistency After Halftime

A very common and extremely frustrating pattern occurs in almost every match, regardless of whether it’s Squad Battles, Rivals, or any other UT mode:

• The first half plays normally.

• Players respond correctly, passes are accurate, movement feels natural.

• If I’m winning (or  losing) by halftime — for example 3–0 — the second half becomes a completely different game.

My team suddenly behaves as if their ratings dropped by 40 points:

• Players stop making basic runs.

• Simple 2‑meter passes fail repeatedly.

• First touches become random.

• Defenders freeze or ignore obvious runs.

• The entire team feels unresponsive and sluggish.

Meanwhile, the opponent — even with a weaker squad — suddenly becomes hyper‑responsive and boosted.

This doesn’t feel like football. It feels like an invisible mechanic is interfering with the match.

This Should Not Exist in a Competitive Mode

Ultimate Team is supposed to be the most competitive mode in the game. Yet these momentum‑like swings, dynamic difficulty adjustments, or whatever internal systems cause this behavior, have no place in a competitive environment.

Players want to win or lose based on:

• skill

• tactics

• team quality

• decision‑making

Not based on whether the game decides to “pull” one team forward and slow the other down.

Why This Drives Players Away

Every year, UT loses a significant portion of its player base. And honestly, this is one of the main reasons:

• Matches don’t feel consistent.

• Players don’t feel in control.

• Results often feel predetermined by hidden mechanics rather than gameplay.

• Even when you win, it doesn’t feel satisfying if the game artificially interferes.

If I lose 0–8 to a better player who uses skill moves, player lock, and understands the mechanics — that’s fine. That motivates me to improve.

But when I lose (or even win) because my team suddenly stops functioning after halftime, it’s simply frustrating and discouraging.

What Players Actually Want

A fair, consistent, skill‑based experience.

No momentum.

No hidden boosts.

No artificial handicaps.

No sudden second‑half collapses that feel scripted.

Just football — controlled by the player, not by invisible systems.
