The main reason people buy meta players and abuse mechanics, is the overly competitive and fairly often toxic nature of the player base. Unfortunately it's not necessarily something brought about by ea themselves but human nature. Though I will admit that EA don't help because they can't balance the game that well. The whole point of releasing meta/broken players is that they want people to spend money to try and get them. As for broken mechanics they appear in every game unfortunately, and there is a section of players that will always abuse them.
