Re: Will EA do the same next year?

It’s not about fast or slow gameplay. The problem is that the gameplay itself is just bad.

Players feel heavy, and the game focuses only on short passing. Look at how it plays now—everyone plays the same way. The whole game is built around the X button, and even then, it doesn’t let you play the way you want to. Instead, it forces you to play its way.

There’s no variety in play anymore—crosses, headers, or even long through balls are useless. In real football, long through balls are really important for breaking the press, but they don’t work in this version like they did in past games.

Defense is heavily assisted, especially with PlayStyle+ defense. You’ll notice defenders suddenly jumping toward the ball, sometimes without the defender even pressing anything—it’s just automatic AI help. I wouldn’t mind if defenders were strong, knew how to play, and could read the attacker's movements to intercept the ball on their own. But the fact that the game helps them so much is what I don’t like.

Another issue is how attacking players’ speed is reduced drastically when they get close to a defender, making it easier for the defender to win the ball. I’m not trying to be biased toward attack, but why are the attacking players' abilities being nerfed like this? Why not just make it fair for both attackers and defenders without the game interfering and messing with their abilities?

We’ve played past versions of the game that were balanced between attack and defense, but now that balance is gone.

The Mid-Season “Refresh Update” fixed some small issues, like slower defenders being able to catch up with faster attackers, which was a big problem, and everyone agreed that fix was good. But overall, the game is still bad in other aspects, like passing, variety in playstyles, sluggish player movement, and more.

This is my opinion, and I’m being totally neutral.

I think the speed of the game does have an impact on how the game is played. You said it forces you to play one way and with no variety and I agree and for me that comes down to the unrealistic speed of the game in all aspects, passing, turns, dribbling, ridiculous touch tight control etc. if a player controls, turns, accelerates and dribbles all in virtually the same motion then why try to shield the ball, pass backwards, slow the game down, look for space, manually call players short, send them on runs, avoid trying to dribble with certain players etc. when the sonic speed just forces you to do the same s* all the time pretty much. No need to think, just turn, dribble and ping pong the s* out of it. Every video I see on YouTube and this is how everyone plays the game - it's cringe.

I do read more and more posts like yours though that the gameplay feels more heavy and slower but I don't see it else I'd actually prefer that type of gameplay (if it was like pre-Refresh patch). I mainly play career mode and regardless of custom sliders, the gameplay is so unrealisticly fast in everyway (I'm not just talking about running//acceleration).

Could it be that EA are so lazy that that the bugs this year don't even allow consistent gameplay across different game modes.

One way or another, I guess most here seem to agree that the gameplay is just s* for different reasons.
