Who can explain pace on this game?

So I’ve just played a game where the following happened:

His Kimmich with a powerhouse card (scored a pen) started behind my world tour Adama with an engine card and caught up with him and was about to go past him, and 5 mins later he burst past him just running out from right back. Again this was the start of a game so no stamina issue.

so Adama has 95 acceleration and 95 sprint speed (both 99 with the +4 from the card) and is listed as controlled explosive. Kimmich has 77 acceleration and 62 sprint speed (not boosted with card) and is controlled explosive also, both players  are 5’10 so it can’t be some random excuse like longer leg strides.

To me, acceleration would be how quick a player is to with initial speed burst (say first 10-20’m in the 100m race) and sprint speed would be the out and out top end speed towards end of a race. So could someone at ea explain how this happens so often with players like Kimmich catching and being quicker than players like adama? This doesn’t even take into account the playstyles of rapid+ and  quick step with adama. Please someone make this make any sense

@Stewdinho83 I actually think you are. I’ve already explained it. Yes you got caught by a defender. This doesn’t happen all the time. If it did Ruben Dias wouldn’t be discard price while faster defenders are more expensive and used more. Nobody is picking slow players pace is the most important stat.

Explain whey everyone is trying to use 99 pace players or get as close as possible if pace doesn’t matter?

As stated in original message, start of the game. Fed up with it being a constant thing with slow players catching up fast players for no reason. Given up hoping an actual ea representative will reply with an actual reason

All UT ever did was fuel a game mode all about pace. Pace is supposed to be a luxury in certain areas of the pitch (usually out wide or striker down the middle). But UT made everyone believe football is only about speed.

IRL there are so many factors to a football match and pace is only a part of it. Interesting how players like Pirlo, Modric etc... are received as greats yet UT would make you think otherwise since they don't have 99 pace.

This game mode has brainwashed people. UT is not football it's olympic sprinting.

Tbh I only play Seasons anyway. But UT has always bugged me for the whole pace is everything. Yuck. It represents 0 football and watching people skilling constantly from within their own half... well, just silly really.

All true, but in real life pirlo on his best day isn’t catching a Henry or mbappe, yet on UT it happens far too often

I only play seasons and noticed that Carvajal is catching up on Vini Jr many times.

Pace on the ball is generally slower than past years, especially on long balls.

Although some people with perfect connection can make every player burst past you as they perfectly time speed boosts. It's very frustrating.

This has been a thing since they reworked pace after FIFA 15. 16 had loads of moments where Pique types could catch Cristiano Ronaldo. Now there's a whole new issue where the Attackers sometimes just run in place or slow down enough to make Ruben Dias look like an Olympic sprinter.

It's like there's  "catch up" on defenders. Similar to how racing games either speed up or slow down cars to keep the games balanced and competitive.

  • @lansenylEver since 15, EA realized they have to buff defense for the skill gap to be smaller. Otherwise casuals will just quit the game. FIFA 13-15 were really good e-sport games will a high skill gap and not much RNG.

  • It is now December 13th and the pace issues have still not been addressed. Why even have stats in the game if it doesn’t affect gameplay? Just had my Mo Salah get out paced by Casemiro… Gameplay is overall clunky and dribble moves have been slowed down so much they’re not even viable to use. Just L1 L2 dribble spam.

I was curious and went back to play Fifa 19 and the gameplay feels way better. I’m having trouble seeing myself buying this game ever again. The amount of gameplay issues and lack of effort on making the game better is the last straw. FC 25 felt like a roster update of FC 24. Menus the same, fonts, colors, general design. No innovation at all. Sad how corporate greed ruined my favorite game. At least they have new packs every day for their pay to win game.

It’s all to do with connection and lag compensation. Surely everyone who has ever played this game can tell the speed changes depending on the time of day and what server you get connected to. It doesn’t matter what the stats say if you are hindered by the connection. One team will move and accelerate quicker than the other. One side will lock on to the other opposition players whereas the other team will almost try and move away from the ball. If i get matched against a German or French player (im in England) their team will move quicker regardless of who they have or what pace stats they have.

  • It's not really a connection issue. These pace issues regularly happen in offline matches, too.
