Will EA do the same next year?

There are many here and other platforms that are disgusted by how EA advertised gameplay which was reasonably realistic and then changed it to something that is shockingly bad in relation to simulation.

Many examples have been given here so I won't go in to detail but to summarise, the speed of the game and mechanics are so bad that you can literally, control, turn and start dribbling with the ball within a second, all the while whilst the ball sticks to your foot. Players and ball feels so light because acceleration is rapid.

Usually, you can adjust the sliders to change the mechanics somewhat but at least in manger career mode, the sliders are broken this year where they revert to custom or even worse in terms of gameplay speed after a few games. 4 months on and they still cant fix this basic feature.

So here's the question for EA, now that you have taken money from many who enjoyed the initial gameplay, especially before this arcady, FiFA Street "Refresh" patch c*. Will EA again, for FC 26, advertise the gameplay as close to simulation and realism and then change it after 3 months?

If this can be confirmed then me and many others can not be scammed out of money next year.

At least fix the sliders for FFS and allow to roll back to the previous patch for offline modes since that's the gameplay a lot of people paid for.

  • I think it seems even faster in ultimate team online. Right now everyone is going for 99 pace players. I mean pace was the most important stat before but it’s much worse now. Add to the fact that offense isn’t manual so it makes ping pong passing even worse. Games are also unrealistic score feasts.

I don’t know why people even want it even faster. Just a few years ago people didn’t like having fullbacks at cb and attackers at midfield because of pace. Then again it was more that they couldn’t pace past the defense then pace being a problem. Ea tried to add accelerate so defenders could actually keep up with attackers like in real life but people just don’t want it sadly.

    @ Manso0rr

I think the speed of the game does have an impact on how the game is played. You said it forces you to play one way and with no variety and I agree and for me that comes down to the unrealistic speed of the game in all aspects, passing, turns, dribbling, ridiculous touch tight control etc. if a player controls, turns, accelerates and dribbles all in virtually the same motion then why try to shield the ball, pass backwards, slow the game down, look for space, manually call players short, send them on runs, avoid trying to dribble with certain players etc. when the sonic speed just forces you to do the same s* all the time pretty much. No need to think, just turn, dribble and ping pong the s* out of it. Every video I see on YouTube and this is how everyone plays the game - it's cringe.

I do read more and more posts like yours though that the gameplay feels more heavy and slower but I don't see it else I'd actually prefer that type of gameplay (if it was like pre-Refresh patch). I mainly play career mode and regardless of custom sliders, the gameplay is so unrealisticly fast in everyway (I'm not just talking about running//acceleration).

Could it be that EA are so lazy that that the bugs this year don't even allow consistent gameplay across different game modes.

One way or another, I guess most here seem to agree that the gameplay is just s* for different reasons.

It’s not about fast or slow gameplay. The problem is that the gameplay itself is just bad.

Players feel heavy, and the game focuses only on short passing. Look at how it plays now—everyone plays the same way. The whole game is built around the X button, and even then, it doesn’t let you play the way you want to. Instead, it forces you to play its way.

There’s no variety in play anymore—crosses, headers, or even long through balls are useless. In real football, long through balls are really important for breaking the press, but they don’t work in this version like they did in past games.

Defense is heavily assisted, especially with PlayStyle+ defense. You’ll notice defenders suddenly jumping toward the ball, sometimes without the defender even pressing anything—it’s just automatic AI help. I wouldn’t mind if defenders were strong, knew how to play, and could read the attacker's movements to intercept the ball on their own. But the fact that the game helps them so much is what I don’t like.

Another issue is how attacking players’ speed is reduced drastically when they get close to a defender, making it easier for the defender to win the ball. I’m not trying to be biased toward attack, but why are the attacking players' abilities being nerfed like this? Why not just make it fair for both attackers and defenders without the game interfering and messing with their abilities?

We’ve played past versions of the game that were balanced between attack and defense, but now that balance is gone.

The Mid-Season “Refresh Update” fixed some small issues, like slower defenders being able to catch up with faster attackers, which was a big problem, and everyone agreed that fix was good. But overall, the game is still bad in other aspects, like passing, variety in playstyles, sluggish player movement, and more.

This is my opinion, and I’m being totally neutral.

I've already accepted that may probably be true.  As I said, the main reason for my post was to vent frustration and call them out for BS advertising.

Obviously they don't give c* and I'm wasting my time so think I'll just refrain from buying this garbage next year and not be frustrated by having to try a million things so the game doesn't play like this arcady, unrealistic, Ping Pong s* fest

  • When people say they are not happy with gameplay they mean it’s not fast enough. They actually think ea reverted the patch to slower gameplay.  You can’t blame ea for listening to the community. Like I said I prefer the slower gameplay.

Whilst that may be true. I do think EA have deliberately overstated this narrative that the arcade gameplay was a great success. I read more comments on how s* the gameplay is after this Refresh patch than how good it is.

I can understand a slightly faster gameplay but I still can't comprehend why people would like unrealistic player movement and acceleration - it's such a s* representation of the real game but apparently people do prefer that - probably because it allows them to take advantage of certain situations in the game.

Not sure why they messed up the custom sliders this year, they simply don't work consistently.

My main question, however was whether EA will advertise a certain type of gameplay, where so many trialed it before buying and then significantly change it later once they have taken their money with no option to go back to the gameplay people paid for (at least in offline modes or by changing custom sliders that actually work).

I realised whist typing this that I am wasting time with these posts. EA will do f all - s* game this year, made by a s*tty company.

  • I think they will listen to the majority. I think you are asking the wrong entity. You need to ask will the community want a slower more realistic gameplay. No they won’t. While I prefer slower gameplay I am under no illusion it’s the minority opinion. People like easy offense with a lower skill gap.
