Game settings resetting during game.

This may have been discussed before but I cannot find it.

I have gone into settings out of ultimate team and changed each item to what I want in the game, exited and saved to my profile, gone into UT and loaded into a rivals game with my settings in place, things started to go badly wrong in game so I checked my settings in game and they had reset to competetive instead of my custom settings. 

I have repeated the process a number of times and the out come is always the same, I have looked online and followed all methods but it is still doing it. 

Can someone explain how to get over this and keep my settings otherwise I am deleting this awful game and never buying it again
