Re: Online Service disabled - PS4 - EA FC 25

@goud_brons I have been on the EA help chat with an assistant for over an hour. He simply stated that COPPA law (or equivalent law in your country) doesn't allow children to play online games. So basically he is saying it is not a technical bug, but a limitation following law. I am not a legal expert, but to my knowlegde these laws are about protection childrens privacy, but they don't forbit children to play online games. He kept on referring me to https://help.ea.com/in/help/account/online-access-for-child-accounts/#playingonline but I explained him that nowhere in this article it is stated that children cannot play online games. He promised me to take this up with this team.
To be honest I find the answer hard to believe that this is a legal limitation, or even an EA internal policy. Does anybody have more information or experience on this?

It's utter nonsense spouted by someone who doesn't know what they're talking about to make you go away by putting the blame on you for being a responsible parent.

If you read back, there is ample evidence that this is a bug that EA haven't prioritised for fixing at this point.

There are workarounds, albeit not satisfactory:

    • Let your child play on an unrestricted adult account.
    • Create a new child account with a dob making your child be at least 15yo - you can still apply restrictions.
    • Talk to ps network and have them amend your child's dob to make them 15 - I managed to get this done, but I gather it's hit and miss, dependent on which support agent you get as most refuse to do this!

    Good luck.
