I replied to someone else with this issue and i have been experiencing the exact same thing but now i might have found both the solution and cause.
Try switching off cross-play and see if you are still having the same issue. i am currently on my second game with cross-play turned off and i honestly have not had the same issue as before where my players just completely freeze after a corner-kick or just randomly.
This has worked for me so far but i will try a few more games to see if my hypothesis is correct about the cross-play function.

happy to try and help man. i cannot even begin to explain the frustration of this game since its launch but mostly the recent big update.
I just finished my third game where i experienced a slight freeze of my players only twice which is honestly a massive improvement compared to my usual games. hope you get the same results if not better broski!
