Why is it impossible to win auctions on companion app?

Hello everyone 

I really would appreciate some assistance on how to avoid this problem. I've been trying to get one player all day (I won't say who) and the price has been going up all day as well. Every time it's the same thing, place a bid successfully, get outbid, place another bid successfully, get outbid, on and on until suddenly, I am no longer allowed to bid on the item. It starts saying something like "bid status changed...", and there's nothing I can do. Even if I  back out and come back, it's the same thing. And there's not enough time to close and reopen the app at the end of an auction. I have lost so many bids because of this, can someone please help me out?
