Alumni challenges for MUT player unlocks

Can someone please explain to me how this alumni challenge works in college football in order to unlock  players in my madden ultimate team?

For my example I want 88 Barkley. 

Are alumni challenges available immediately or do I have to reach a certain level because I’m a level 7 and do not have the alumni challenges available to me.
